The end of Obamania

Barack Obama has fallen back to Earth.
When he ran for president, Obama said his election would be "the moment the rise of the oceans began to slow." And when he made his first big foreign trip in April, he was hailed by adoring crowds -- and almost-as-adoring politicians -- in Britain, Germany, France and the Czech Republic.
But last week, in Russia and Italy, Obamania was little more than a pleasant memory. Yes, his international polling numbers are still high, but the president encountered hardly any adulation in the streets of Moscow or anywhere else. Instead, Russian strongman Vladimir Putin reportedly gave him a tongue-lashing over a two-hour breakfast, and the tent-bound refugees from Italy's April earthquake mostly wanted to know whether he could rebuild their homes. ("Yes, we camp," their banner said, pointedly.)

...and the tent-bound refugees from Italy's April earthquake mostly wanted to know whether he could rebuild their homes. They also asked him to raise their dead, cure their leprosy, and turn their water into wine, but Michelle told the peasants to f*** off when they got too close.

Oldeconmybuyer, I think I beat you by about one minute on that... This pic of Obama could chill even the Hottest summer day.

Until Barry's boys figure things out, they'll initiate a whispering campaign against the former VP and a particular fireman.

“Obama avoided the rookie mistake that John F. Kennedy committed at his first summit meeting in 1961, when the new president left the Russians thinking he was young, untested and uncertain.”
Yes, Obama removed all doubt that he was anything but a left-wing ideologue with zero experience and zero clues as to how the real world works. The Russians know they can roll him anytime they want, so he'll have to tuck his tail and come back to Washington and concentrate harder on destroying the U.S. from within. After all, the unemployment rate is only 12%. There are still jobs to destroy.

The hard reality of international affairs is that, just as the United States has interests, so do other countries. And when those interests conflict, all the charm and charisma in the world can't resolve the differences. This is something that should have been said BEFORE the election as it is undoubtedly true. But that would be asking too much of the editorial writers at the LATimes.

wonder what was the tipping point for them?Polls. As soon as his popularity starts to drop, they begin to see more people (readers) interested in reading about his failure than his worship. It's all about selling papers.

If there's anything people like seeing more than a hero rise, it's seeing a hero fall. ;-)
Obama had the makings of a star, and a star he became. Celebrity power sells, and the media was happy to sell it with him. Now his administration has the stink of failure escaping from the seems. Disrespect abroad, economic woes at home, arrogance from the White House, and sinking poll numbers. You can already feel the winds shifting.
Broken celebrities are worth far more to newspapers than intact ones.

Who knows? But, interestingly the little box poll shows 83% saying Now Obama needs to show results. Of course, if he manages to show the results he’s promised and desires that won’t be good at all.
