Harris County GOP struggles as it tries to rebuild
Houston Chronicle ^ | 07/12/2009 | BRADLEY OLSON

“A lot of people are very concerned that the party is not in as strong a position as it needs to be going into 2010,” Harris County Judge Ed Emmett said last week. Emmett said he experienced “a frustrating week” at the end of June trying to locate party officials when the local GOP office was closed and no one was answering the phone. “It's important that a lot of things get done now going into next year.”

Party organizations are often, mostly, volunteer efforts at the local level.
This is a member of the MSM trying to demoralize Republicans.
It might also be an indication of a RINO trying to cast doubt on conservative leadership.

I would caution to go slow, and not pile on so fast.

It's all newspeak anyway. The Republicans have shot themselves in the foot during the past two election cycles and the MSM is all too happy to start playing funeral music.

The same thing happened during the Republican Revolution with Gingrich. I distinctly remember countless articles bemoaning the fall of the democrats and the "obvious permanent majority" that the Republicans had now achieved. It's all B.S.

This is what the MS/Drive-by Media does. It throws as much chit at a wall as it can and hopes that what sticks will keep you riveted to, and hanging on their every word.

The Republican Party is Dead! Long Live the Republican Party.

Or if you prefer,"Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia".

I have no reason to believe that the county Judge is a RINO. He simply stated the obvious....the GOP office was closed and the phones were not being answered...and the county GOP leader admitted that fact....

Cast doubt on GOP leadership? Oh Lord....where is the leader? Gimme a name....

It’s rather difficult to fully support the Republican Party in Texas when their leader thinks his mission in life is to sell off control of our highways to private (some foreign) interests. I live in Harris County and will not vote Republican (at the state level) until Perry either jettisons that concept and admits it was flawed - or is somehow removed from office. At the federal level, however, I still ALWAYS vote Republican.

The party faithfull? ..and these folks are attempting to raise donations? When we lose the party office worker....what is left?

This may be explained...but for now, it has a putrid odor....

Understood....and one must accept the fact that Perry is an ex democrat....how does one become an ex democrat?

This is IT, folks!

OK, this is bad news, on the surface!

However, look deeper and this becomes GREAT news: this is now the opening Tea Party supporters need to re-orient the GOP. If we flood the grassroots, volunteer-level slots in the Party machine, we gain a critical mass at the key levels of the party. This is EXACTLY what Reagan and his supporters began doing in earnest starting in 1976.

So, go: volunteer now for your county GOP, and encourage others from the Tea Parties to volunteer.

Let’s roll!
