The charge levied here is that of a pattern of racist posts over a long period of time (weeks, months, or possibly even years). One deleted thread is not evidence of that.
Many people here have their heads in the sand. That includes some of the mods.
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about Michelle Obama. Apropos of nothing, someone posted a picture of Aunt Jemima, head scarf and all. (Note: we were not discussing pancakes or any related cooking subject at the time) I (and others) reported it and the picture was deleted.
This was the moderators explanation for the why the picture was deleted:
Many have asked for post #12 to be pulled - because it might be seen as 'racist.' That was not done for one very big reason. The race of Aunt Jemima and the 1st lady is the same - and Aunt Jemima has been an icon loved and respected for many many years.The words posted with the image are clear, 'She should just make more pancakes!' - suggesting that the current 1st lady has stepped outside her role, in ways none before her have tread. That is not a racist suggestion. It is more an opinion that the 1st lady should refocus her efforts.

(Again, note: the Aunt Jemima picture that was deleted was in post #12. There was no discussion of cooking or pancakes before the picture was posted. Read the mods explanation (post #62) of why said picture was NOT racist, and try to keep a straight face.)
The self-delusion here needs to stop.
