I agree with you completely. I have been a member here since 1997 and I can tell you that the discourse has deteriorated significantly in the last few years. This used to be a site where people of conservative/libertarian bent came to intelligently discuss politics, religion, science etc. Now we have too many on here that have no concern about personal attacks and name calling when someone disagrees with them.

It was probably only a matter of time before we started to slip to DailyKos and DU level of classlessness. I am also tired of the argument well they do it to us. That sounds like the laments of a 3rd grader. As my dad used to say life ain't fair and the sooner you learn that the better off you will be. There will never be a level playing field, but that doesn't mean we sink to their level. You can stay on the high road and still prevail. This is just what they want us to do, get down in the dirt with them so they can call in the media to smear us before the public. Kids are off limits period. If the Left doesn't feel compelled to play by those rules then we will just have to be better than them won't we? I miss the good old days.

IMHO, it is the nature of the Internet, I see this on forums of all types, anonymous posters allow people to vent and it also allows people to play roles, such as leftists who comment as a parody of what they think the right is (or whatever the topic is).. Years ago when many of us first joined, the Internet was new and people who joined where serious about Conservative activism, now, every 10 year old has a computer and we don’t know if grandma111 who is talking about her cats is really said 10 year old playing games.

Good grief, when I got here (1996) we had a bunch campaigning against the UN secret army that was just then invading Mississippi.

I don't think you've been around long enough to see the place "deteriorate" ~ no, hunh hunh, ain't no way.

We've seen the bottom a long time ago and it's actually gotten much better.
