Pssst... Malia is not leader of the free world. And there is no established protocol for what the 11-year-old daughter of the President should wear while eating gelato in Italy on a summer day. I think she looked cute. When she was on official outings (such as at the Vatican) she dressed up, as is appropriate. For sightseeing, she looked like a normal, cute little girl.
You’re living proof that tenure here does not equal wisdom.
She DID look cute...I never said she didn’t.
(shorts were shorter than my girls wore...but hey.)
I still say....it was inappropriate for the PARENTS to allow the CHILD to dress this way.
Please note ye lurkers one and all: I said PARENTS!
Sheesh
I totally agree with you, although I do believe her parents should have been a bit more diligent (diplomatic?) in how they allowed the child to be seen in public.
However, my resident fashionista, who also happens to be 11 years old and a cute little girl does not agree with either of us. Her comment was "Mommy, that shirt looks awful, she doesn't have any underwear under it. Shouldn't she have a bra or undershirt on?"
One 11 yo commenting upon another 11 yo -- nothing racist or political about it.
