One final note: I have seen some threads where people go off on one minority characteristic or another here on FR, and sometimes we are pushing it, but I think it comes from the frustration that many white people, especially men, feel after years of being told that, despite the fact that they are generally the solid citizen taxpayer backbone of this country, they are still the bad guys simply by virtue of their skin color. I'm sure that's true in many cases, but frustration is rarely a good motivation for acting. It makes people careless and reckless. It explains the problem but doesn't justify everything people do out of frustration nor make it a good idea.

True enough. But what I think is happening, and what I'd like to see happen even more, is that people are getting a little less fearful of the "racist" label, and they're starting to realize that it has always been mostly a con job. Only once people get past that fear can any honest, problem-solving conversation ever happen.
