The son of a white woman from Kansas and a black goat herder-turned-academic from Kenya, Obama delivered an unsentimental account of squandered opportunities in postcolonial Africa. America's first black president spoke with a bluntness that perhaps could only come from a member of Africa's extended family.
"No country is going to create wealth if its leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves, or police can be bought off by drug traffickers," he said.
"No business wants to invest in a place where the government skims 20 percent off the top, or the head of the Port Authority is corrupt. No person wants to live in a society where the rule of law gives way to the rule of brutality and bribery. That is not democracy, that is tyranny, and now is the time for it to end."
He added: "Africa doesn't need strongmen, it needs strong institutions."

Say what? Talk about cognitive dissonance.
Obama should follow his own words here and apply them on everything from U.S. economic policy and our Constitution to Honduras.

Government at all levels (state, local, county) in the U.S. is taking in as much as 40% or more in states like California through taxes, “user fees”, hidden taxes, etc.
Get a clue. Africa isn’t the only place hurting from this and government corruption.
As always, what you do speaks so loudly in our ears that it is impossible...and would be foolish...to listen to what you say.

I was going to say—what about a 35% corporate profits tax?
My first thoughts were of the “percents” charged here by our tyrannical despots? I wish I could get off with 20%!
Sorta like the US under Chairman 0bama?
“I was going to saywhat about a 35% corporate profits tax?”
Yeah! The contradiction here is amazing, unless Obama things only other countries, not Americans, deserve better government, better policy and a better economy.
Maybe he does.
Words fail.
Wonder what Obozo thinks his percentage is?
His father stated in the East Africa Journal, that there is no theoretical limit to what government can tax. Even 100%
Under those circumstances 20% is a lot smaller than 100%.
Obozo is a total Fraud, and they even know it in Africa. On 2nd thought I guess they should know.
I wish that’s all our government would skim!
Oh the irony..
hahaha! is he telling them to take what Bambi wants? much more than 20%...
Evil idiot.
Obama the hypocrite!
Geez, I may have to move to Africa if all they’re getting is 20%. My social security, medicare, fed & state taxes are far north of 40%.
Obama is still growing up.
is this parody? Talk about dumb. Does he think before he opens his mouth
Sheesh, I guess africa doesn’t know about our taxes, and govt debt.
You misunderstand, this is a plug for American Business to move to Kenya where taxes are lower and the government is less intrusive.
