One person is dead after two boats crashed Friday night in Clinton County.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday on the Susquehanna River in Woodward Township, near Lock Haven.
Around 10:30 p.m., Newswatch 16 found investigators from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission still on the scene, looking over the boats.
Emergency dispatchers in Clinton County confirmed one person died in the crash. They also said that several people were hurt. None of the victims have been identified and there is no word what caused the crash.
#1. The driver of the one boat is a co-worker (who works the opposite night shift). He's approximately 50 years old. He has a long history intoxicated offenses including 4 or 5 DUI's and county prison time for his offenses. He routinely has beer on ice in his vehicle on his last day of work and pounds them down all the way home. I have also heard stories from other co-workers that he's been known to horse around while driving his boat.
#2. The dead was a 12-year old girl.
I live in Williamsport. I agree that there are many who think drinking and boating is a right of theirs.
Unfotunately, and all too frequently, the innocent pay the price for these self-centered fools.
He's done as a co-worker and life is over. With a history like that and killing a little girl? I hope they lose the key.
He routinely has beer on ice in his vehicle on his last day of work and pounds them down all the way home.
That's just his "public" drinking. I'll bet his BAC was above zero 100% of the time.
Jail, institutions, or death were his choices for continuing to be a drunk. It's just so sad that he killed some innocent little girl before they got him locked up.
RIP.
