A good compromise would be that if this Maoist dictator wannabe stays out of Honduras for the rest of his life a Honduran Army firing squad won't give him a 21 gun “salute”.

Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann spoke in New York... "I have a feeling that we are moving in that direction rather quickly," the former Nicaraguan revolutionary, who is also a Catholic priest, told a news conference at the UN... Zelaya, a rich landowner whose leftist policies led him to become a close ally of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, would return to his country as early as next week. He would be allowed to complete his term as president through to January in return for making clear he has no intention of seeking to extend his rule, they said.
Shoot him as he gets off the plane.

I don’t think the Hondurans would be stupid enough to agree to anything like this. Precisely who in the Honduran government would have the authority to strike a bargain against the Honduran Constitution? Wouldn’t all branches need to agree with it?
I think this is the left fantasizing and feeling like if they fantasize hard enough it will come true.

How the heck did this radical priest from Nicaragua get to head of the UN????
This is how John Paul II dealt with these types:
![](http://www.walkthruhistory.com/storage/images-for-posts/JP2%20and%20Ernesto%20Cardenal%201983.jpg)
Sweating profusely in the Nicaraguan heat on a March day in 1983, Pope John Paul II was forced to demand silence from a crowd of Sandinista hecklers present at an outdoor Mass in Managua. When Ernesto Cardenal Martinez, a Roman Catholic priest who also serves as Minister of Culture in Nicaragua's Marxist government, knelt to receive the Pope's blessing, John Paul wagged his finger in Cardenal's face and chided him, "You must straighten out your position with the church." These episodes, and his own keen observations during an eight-day-long visit to Central America, made a lasting impression on the Pontiff.
He returned to Rome convinced that the time had come to deal firmly with the increasing conflict between the church and radical priests and nuns in Latin America, and indeed in the Third World in general. Most of those priests and nuns, accompanied by flocks of Catholic laymen, march under the banner of liberation theology, a radical attempt to fuse Marxism and Christianity in a struggle against social and economic oppression.

Serve out his term?! He isn’t President anymore. He was impeached by a unanimous vote of the Honduran Congress.

Seems to me the Hondurans have resolved it quite effectively. It's only in the halls Caracas, the White House and the U.N., that there's any notion of crisis.
