I agree with you on both points... I'm sure it was calculated. Highly inappropriate for the daughter (an 11-year-old as of 7/4/09 no less) of a President of the United States to be wearing that shirt with the GIANT peace sign, IMO. Especially while representing the American people overseas.

Agree with YOUR comments in paragraphs repeated above — that peace symbol was bigger than the child’s head, for heaven’s sake! It was far from typical of the peace symbol clothing I’ve seen at local stores. Macy’s in Los Angeles is using the ‘summer of love’ theme on its advertising and there’s a fair amount of flower child ‘stuff’ out there right now including peace symbols, but they are SMALL symbols.
But........nowhere, in any store, did I see the type of shirt worn by the Obama child who just turned 11 a few days ago. No one can tell me letting that child wear that particular shirt was any accident.
