Launch countdown operations are continuing on schedule today at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The countdown to space shuttle Endeavour's STS-127 launch began on time July 8 at 10 p.m. EDT. There will be a prelaunch news conference today beginning no earlier than 11:30 a.m. Watch it live on NASA TV or http://www.nasa.gov/ntv. Endeavour's liftoff is scheduled for Saturday at 7:39 p.m. Due to expected showers, thunderstorms and anvil clouds in the area, the launch weather forecast continues to be 40 percent "go." Tonight at Kennedy's Launch Pad 39A, the rotating service structure will begin to retract from around Endeavour at 11 p.m.

Due to expected showers, thunderstorms and anvil clouds in the area, the launch weather forecast continues to be 40 percent "go." Understanding the constraints of a launch window for the ISS, Why would ANYONE schedule a launch at 7:30 pm in Florida, in the Summer Time?. Towering Cumulus in all quadrants ....

....sorry, but I just don’t see the value of this...it takes way too much money to overcome the hostility of deep space.

It’s a good thing that same attitude was not prevalent regarding sea travel and exploration a few hundred years ago.

....yeah, but they did it for the money.

At this hour I see a very unusual lack of lightning activity. A rather high barometer, not falling much, is a good sign too.
