ATLANTA -- A quiet night in front of the television ended with a shoot-out in southwest Atlanta. A homeowner was in the hospital Thursday morning as police searched for the would-be robber.

Officials said a homeowner will recover after suffering a gunshot wound to the ear during a gun battle when someone tried to break into his home.

A shoot-out on Westmont Road between a homeowner and a would-be robber woke up several people in the neighborhood.

"I guess I would say about 15 to 20 rounds was exchanged," said neighbor Otis Holliman.

The homeowner told Channel 2 Action News her husband was in the living room watching television when he heard a noise outside the house. He grabbed his gun to check it out and that's when the gun battle erupted.

The husband was shot once in the right ear and was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Crime scene investigators found several bullet casings and a gun.

"The guy dropped the gun that was shooting at her husband," said Holliman.

The suspect got away.

Holliman said criminals have been targeting his neighbors since they moved in.

"I think the house has been broken into three or four different times here recently," said Holliman.

Doctors said the victim is in stable condition. The victim's wife said once her husband gets out of the hospital, they plan to move.

Sounds as if he may have hit the robber, for the robber to drop the gun.

"The guy dropped the gun that was shooting at her husband," said Holliman.

DAMN THOSE GUNS THAT JUST SHOOT AT PEOPLE! Don't you just hate it when that happens? The gun you're holding shoots at people and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Now all the cops need to do is trace the gun back to the gun show or shop to find the rightful owner. Dang amish...

15 to 20 rounds and only an ear wound to show for it?

Seems like GA has experienced a rash of this sort of thing but that just might be the press. It tells me a couple of things: a) Georgians are well prepared b) The barbarians are in the streets, but we knew that already.

>>Holliman said criminals have been targeting his neighbors since they moved in.

Ah, since the story doeesn’t say, it must be that the homeowners are black, and they are targeted because they moved into a largely white neighborhood...

Inner city neighborhood.Mostly local inner city types in that area, go a little farther east and you’ll find progressive unwashed bikenstockers who moved into these areas to send their kids to the local schools, giving them a rich multicultural experience,to be close to their university revolutionary indoctrination center jobs, and to walk about and sleep unarmed in hot zones with the Atlanta Police only 30-45 minutes away even if their precinct is around the block.

Seems like GA has experienced a rash of this sort of thing but that just might be the press.

Not just the press - two things going on. 1. GA has the highest percentage of illegal hispanic immigrants of any state including the border states. Many are honest (if you can consider anyone who breaks the law to get into this country honest) A great many are career criminals. 2. Atlanta and the other major cities in GA are experiencing the harvest of generations of welfare bastards with no moral compass at all.

They grow up with nothing but a bone deep sense of entitlement and an attitude that they've been kept down by the (white) man. Naturally the see nothing wrong with just taking what they want and killing anyone who would deny them immediate gratification. The upper Atlanta police bureaucracy is primarily a racial spoils program for for blacks who have mediocre skills at best to swill from the taxpayer trough, reaping the benefit of decades of black Democratic politician run government. Violent black criminals get the revolving door via parole and after all too few years are back out on the street to continue their depredations.

Church groups and "immigration advocates" froth at the mouth about the very thought of deporting hispanic criminals, so they stay here for the most part too.

You left out Katrina trash. Ask the businesses in south Milton that are lucky enough to be within walking distance of the section 8 and habitat crap that Fulton shoved in place prior to cityhood for Milton.

You are absolutely correct. I just forgot about them. Still 50,000 welfare “families” (if you can call a lazy female with no interest in anything except the reproductive act, drugs and alcohol, and her offspring by various males a family) that were flushed out of the sewers in New Orleans by Katrina sucking on the taxpayer teat here in the Atlanta area.

You can thank the Roman Catholic Church for their “Liberation Theology” that teaches people that it is not a sin to steal from someone who has ‘a lot’ if you really need it, they won’t give it to you if you ask for it, and/or are stealing stuff for your family, etc.

The reason I bring this up is that over 90% of hispanics are Roman Catholic. It ties in nicely with the warped idea the white man is putting them down. They frame the whole “we’re persecuted by white Americans because we’re illegals” as part of this core belief it represents ‘racist’ white hatred (instead of what it really is, hatred of people who ignore, spit on, and flaunt our country’s immigration laws - and these people include hispanics who emigrated here through LEGAL means).

Not that I doubt it, but do you have a link for that? I find that the American Conference of Catholic Bishops' web site is a font of socialist dogma. With the exception of abortion, the Catholic church and the liberal wing of the Democratic party are pretty much in sync. The church should stick to matters of faith and morals and get its nose out of politics.

Thanks. Reading your links, liberation theology seems to be a philosophy followed by some of the more radical clergy rather than an official church position. Not that it keeps the local clergy from doing it, but it appears that a couple of recent popes have spoken out stongly against it.

It is where the philosophy, official or not, developed. It is not important that it is official or not, this philosophy was developed within the RCC by radicals whom were not excommunicated as pushing heretical or unorthodox doctrines.

In this article the current Pope says liberation theology deserves serious debate.

http://www.catholicculture.org/news/features/index.cfm?recnum=51032

And I guess the American Conference of Catholic Bishops is apparently not official enough for you.

The point is, those in the RCC that pushed this, did so in South and Central America, including Mexico. About 90% of Mexicans are Catholic, and have had this liberation theology taught to them. The illegals that are here have had the same liberation theology engrained in them, to hate whites and ‘rich people’ and believe its’ okay to take from those who have a lot if you really need it. This is why they act the way they do in our country, why they ignore our laws and don’t mind taking welfare and handouts they have no legal right to take. Liberation theology rationalizes it for them.

Liberation theology is nothing more than religion rationalizing marxism.
