Sneed has learned that U.S. Sen. Roland Burris has decided not to seek election to a seat he fought the government to keep...To wit: Burris, whose decision to vie for Barack Obama's seat landed him in the midst of a federal pay-to-play corruption probe of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, decided to end his 20-year political career at the end of his term... "because he was primarily concerned about his legacy," a source close to Burris told Sneed.

His legacy? Bwahahahaahaha...surely i now compose myself. Bwahahahahaa..oops!
'Roland Burris Won't Run For Senate Seat in 2010'
A shining example for all the weary ward heelers in Chicago.
Its too bad, he would have been easy to beat. Roland even lost support of Daley and his group of goons.
To preserve his ‘legacy,’ Burris should relocate to New Orleans and run for Mayor of the “Chocolate City.” Stupidity, corruption, and racial politics are a deadly combination there too.
I suspect someone from a Prosecutors office sat down, laid out the cards, and told him that cooperation and a promise not to run and he wouldn’t have to call a cell his home.
Anybody know what type of perks a US Senator will have the rest of his life after serving ever-so-briefly?
Healthcare, etc.?
Gee, I wonder why??
/sarc
As far as I know, you have to serve six years to get a pension. Don’t know about healthcare, but he probably had that anyway with his state jobs.
He got his lifetime retirement bennies. Don’t need to do no mo.
Just who gives a damn? I mean, really?
Burris, whose decision to vie for Barack Obama's seat landed him in the midst of a federal pay-to-play corruption probe of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, decided to end his 20-year political career at the end of his term...
"Why didn't he just run for President?"
None. He won't have served long enough to get vested in anything.
Does that prick get full retirement for the rest of his life? How much if so?
When most Rats leave office they take their pensions and go to work for a DC lobbying firm;beats workin’.
Retirement from the Senate? Burris gets nothing, he wasn't there long enough to vest for any of the programs. But he already has a considerable retirement income from his state jobs.
