Chicago has its coolest July 8 in 118 years
Chicago Tribune ^ | 7-8-09 | Tom Skilling

Posted on 07/09/2009 8:36:37 PM PDT by STARWISE

For the 12th time this meteorological summer (since June 1), daytime highs failed to reach 70 degrees Wednesday. Only one other year in the past half century has hosted so many sub-70-degree days up to this point in a summer season -- 1969, when 14 such days occurred.

Wednesday's paltry 65-degree high at O'Hare International Airport (an early-May-level temperature and a reading 18 degrees below normal) was also the city's coolest July 8 high in 118 years -- since a 61-degree high on the date in 1891.

While here in South Texas this is the hottest summer in many years. Everyday brings 103 - 105 temps. Normal is in the 94 - 96 range this time of year.

I was at a minor league baseball game tonight in Pawtucket RI and a woman behind me remarked how ridiculous this was—
it’s July for gosh sakes and it’s chilly at night. Global
cooling! It _was_ pretty cold!

In Baltimore, May and June both stayed out of the 90s. Last time this happened was in 1979. Its only happened four times: in 1979, 1972, 1886 and 2009.

I hear ya. I’m in central Texas. We have broken more “record highs” this year than in any year I can remember. I never thought I’d say it, but I think I’d rather be in Chicago right now!

That must mean that the Cubs will do another epic fade this year.

We may end up THANKING India and China for burning all that coal, if it prevents a new Ice Age.

(Except the Cap and Trade insanity has zero effect on weather)

Equally informative as record high and low temps for a date are record low-high and high-low temps.

I’ve had it with Earthlings!
