WASHINGTON, D.C. House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Doc Hastings (WA-04) today named Rep. Tom McClintock (CA-04) as the new Ranking Member of the Water and Power Subcommittee. McClintock will take over the position from Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) who was recently selected to serve as Ranking Member of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee on the Education and Labor Committee.
Rep. McClintock has shown tremendous dedication and leadership on a number of natural resources issues, said Ranking Member Hastings. As California faces a severe water crisis, it is more important than ever to have leaders in Congress, like McClintock, who understand the importance of having access to a stable and abundant water supply, especially for our agriculture and rural communities. Im confident that McClintock will be a strong advocate for water users in California and throughout the West.
Im honored to have been named as the ranking Republican on the Water and Power sub-committee of the House Natural Resources Committee, said Rep. McClintock. There is now a great debate in Congress over whether government will merely ration shortages that it has created or whether it will return to its traditional goal of promoting abundance through the development of our nations vast water and hydroelectric resources. This debate is of critical importance to the quality of life and prosperity of our nation and I am looking forward to taking an active role in it."
Im also grateful for Rep. McMorris Rodgers service on this Subcommittee, continued Hastings. As a senior Member of our Committee, she will continue advancing issues important to Eastern Washington and the Pacific Northwest.
The Subcommittee on Water and Power is responsible for matters concerning Americas water resources, generation of electric power from federal water projects and interstate water issues. Republicans on the Subcommittee are devoted to promoting low-cost, clean, renewable and emissions-free hydroelectricity generated by federal dams and reservoirs. Republicans are also working to improve federal government regulations to ensure projects are less expensive, more transparent and not delayed by unnecessary red tape.
ping-a-roo
Alas, no. The CA RINO establishment hates McClintock more than the Dem party does and will go the extra mile to sabotage him at all costs (they crippled him and depleted him of funds so much (via a primary opponent, ex-RINO Congressman Doug Ose) in his House run last year, he barely won in a GOP district). Doesn’t matter he is the singlemost qualified person in the state of California to be elected Governor and to turn the disaster around... no, they’d prefer to sink under leftist RINO trash like Ah-nold or the buffoons seeking the nomination next year, unqualified to the very last.
No. No. and No.
I’ve heard McClintock described as a crab-ass, and I can see that. He doesn’t have the cool factor of Reagan.
Read some of McClintock’s speeches. He has the exact same “problem” Sarah Palin has: He actually understands what the average person goes through on a daily basis:get up (on time), get the kids off to schools, get the laundry done, get to work, take care of the old folks, etc. That is the why the elitist Left and the elitist RINOs hate people like McClintock and Palin.
Yes! Congrats!
Now, gather a private consortium to build a desalination plant UNDER the sea, pipe it straight over to the Central Valley, and be the people’s and the market’s hero!
My ex-wife knows him personally. She seems to think he has all the right stuff. LOL
I've heard him multiple times on our local Armstrong and Getty radio show in Sacramento, and crab-ass or grouchy or anything negative is not how he comes across.
His manner is knowledgable and pleasant with no platitudes or party line lingo. He sounds like a regular guy and he also REFRESHINGLY sounds like a grownup. I like him very much.
How can that be? Aren't all conservatives narrow-minded and mean-spirited? Not to mention "grouchy"?
What's he gonna power your pipedream with? That process takes more cheap electricity than making aluminum and GANG-GREEN won't let CA build any more nuke power plants! I hear 'em running for the judge's front porch as I type this!!!
Am I off the ping list now Dano??? We participated in his conference call this evening. I think that's really a neat process!!! (far better than a "fireside chat")
It’s CCG’s list.
Did you actually ask to talk? Next time you’re on hold, call my cell phone and let me know, I’ll put you through to the top.
Let’s have lunch one day soon now that you are back.
