Dear Fellow Conservative:
If it concerns you that America is sliding toward socialism, I hope you will join me in supporting a group I am leading to elect true conservatives to the U.S. Senate who will stand up and fight to save freedom.
Saving Freedom Fighting for freedom is the reason I ran for the Senate and it's also why I wrote a new book called Saving Freedom that I would like to send you.
I'll tell you more about that in a minute...
But first, I need you to CLICK HERE at https://secure.giveworks.net/www/senateconservatives.com/index.php?c=WF6WI if you agree that we need to elect more true conservatives to U.S. Senate who will fight for liberty.
As you know, President Obama and congressional Democrats are ramming billions in bailouts, stimulus plans, and pork-barrel projects through Congress as fast as they can.
We desperately need principled leaders in the Senate to stop them, and we need those leaders now.
The tea parties have been great. They are a physical representation of the growing anger Americans have over the direction of our country. But now we need to channel our energy into positive action that makes a real difference.
That is why I formed the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF). Its mission is to bring bold leadership to Washington by supporting only the most rock-solid, conservative Senate candidates nationwide -- candidates who believe in limited government, a strong national defense, and traditional family values.
SCF does this by making financial contributions to candidates, educating voters on key issues, and building a grass roots army of like-minded conservatives across the country who will push our candidates on to victory.
And let me be absolutely clear about something. SCF does not support liberal Republicans and is not affiliated with the Republican Party or any of its campaign committees. SCF only supports conservatives and will support conservative challengers in Republican primaries when it's necessary.
So if you like wishy-washy Republicans who talk out of both sides of their mouths and try to have it both ways, you won't like SCF. I will tell you that up front.
But if you love America and you believe it is the world's greatest bastion of freedom, then you should join our team and help us take back our country.
There are just under 500 days until the 2010 elections, and we have a lot of work to do. SCF has already made three important endorsements for three impressive candidates.
* In Oklahoma, we are supporting the re-election bid of conservative U.S. Senator Tom Coburn. As I'm sure you know, Senator Coburn is a one-man pork-busting machine who has done more to protect American taxpayers from wasteful Washington spending than anyone in Congress.
* In Pennsylvania, we are backing former Congressman Pat Toomey in his race to replace ultra-liberal Senator Arlen Specter, who helped President Obama pass the $1 trillion stimulus bill and recently switched parties to save his political hide.
* In Florida, we have endorsed former Speaker of the House Marco Rubio who is running for the GOP nomination against Governor Charlie Crist. Rubio is a bright, articulate, and principled leader who has what it takes to win this important seat for conservatives.
Right now SCF is working hard to build support across the country for our conservative candidates, but we need your help to succeed.
If you're ready to take back your country and fight to save freedom, then I hope you will CLICK HERE at https://secure.giveworks.net/www/senateconservatives.com/index.php?c=WF6WI to make your very best contribution of $25, $50, $100, or even $500 to the Senate Conservatives Fund.
In appreciation of your contribution of $25 or more to SCF, I will send you a copy of the book I mentioned earlier, Saving Freedom.
And for your contribution of $100 or more to SCF, I will send you a personally autographed copy of my book.
Book Offer I wrote Saving Freedom to help explain the value of freedom in America and describe how it works. I also wanted to give Americans a road map for how we can save it.
I'm making this special offer because I believe we must win a few key Senate races in 2010 or we won't be able to stop our nation's slide into socialism.
Many Americans seem to have forgotten how important liberty is, but it's not too late to save the land of the free.
So please CLICK HERE to help SCF and get your copy of Saving Freedom today.
The benefit from your contribution will go directly and exclusively to SCF so it can help elect true conservatives to the U.S. Senate.
Together, we can strengthening the U.S. Senate and take back our great country.
Your friend,
Jim DeMint

P.S. When Newt Gingrich read my book, he called it "a new Declaration of Independence." I hope it is the same for you and your family!

People should contribute directly to election campaigns and not through general “slush funds” that are used as political levers, much of which do not get spent and are held in “reserve” for future politicking and extortions.
Hopefully when the next batch of conservatives are elected in (and i belive they will be), they will fight for the casue instead of rolling over and taking it. Next time they need to stand up for conservative reform, even if they are fighting a republican president (RINO). This is how dems got a supermajority. We conservatives will get one back when the dems and Dem lights screw up badly.
I’ve been turned on to this organization by several Freepers and have checked out the website, but their objective is a little vague and nebulous. What do they mean by “conservative?” I mean, we had been sold on “conservative” candidates in the recent past and look what we got? I want it spelled out. Where do they stand on issues? And what exactly are the issues worth fighting for?
Ha! A fund that his fellow SC senator can’t begin to make a legitimate claim on!
I understand your Missouri stance, and I also think DeMint is the most credible guy for conservative senators that we have.
Forgive me... Missouri stance?
The SCF policy goals include:
* Strengthen national security
* Oppose appeasement
* Eliminate wasteful spending and keep taxes low
* Promote energy security
* Secure our borders
* Expand private health insurance
* Give parents more school choices
* Reform Social Security and Medicare
* Confirm good judges
* Promote the American Dream
This could easily be the platform of any liberal Democratic PAC (though with disingenuous language). I want to know exactly what they mean by these bullet points and HOW they plan on doing these. And what about social issues? Are they not important? The attack on marriage; unfettered, taxpayer-funded abortion; ENDA mandates; free speech and religious expression, underhanded gun control and citizen disarmament - all deserve just as much attention by conservatives as the issues listed.
Needless to say, I'm not on board just yet.
Isn’t Missouri the ‘Show Me’ state?
But I’ve got to agree with you. That’s a pretty disappointing list of mush.
Yes, DeMint has my trust. And I’m a huge Coburn fan. If only Texas could find such balls in a politician.
I agree with you that “conservative” means different things to different people. I recently read a booklet from the Ayn Rand Institute. It claimed that the last time that Republicans tried to scale back government (unsuccessfully) was during the Reagan administration. Since that time, Republicans have accepted the inevitability of government expansion. George Bush II, for example, greatly expanded the size of government, entitlements and the debt all in the name of “conservativism.” Neo-conservativism, according to this article, is an attempt to introduce free market principles to socialism, and this ends up pleasing no one.
Some people would simply define conservativism as limited government and taking personal responsibility.
Glen Beck’s 912 Project goes a little bit further. (See http://www.the912project.com/the-912-2/ .) Their 9 principles are:
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the center of my life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pusuuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
They also list 12 principles. Go to their web site to see the whole thing.
