Sarah Palin already has the power to destroy the GOP, simply by taking her constituency off the field with her. That's why I've always viewed the attacks on her by other GOP politicos to be colossally stupid - especially given the fact that she strictly obeys Reagan's Eleventh Commandment and never herself criticizes another national Republican figure.

Hoo-yah!

But her power base also gives her the ability to remake the party, and apparently this is the role she has chosen.

I wish the snobbish GOP leadership would parachute down from their high horses long enough to let these facts sink in deeply. If they would only take a good, long look at everything Sarah is doing right, and they are doing wrong, there would be NOTHING that could stop the born-again-conservative GOP!

Go Sarah!

The best article yet. Everyone that has been speculating about Palin’s real motives forgets that she has always said exactly what she means. There’s no mystery.

WOW, what a quote! Kinda says it all!

I liked what Reagan used to say: "There's no limit to what a man can accomplish if he doesn't care who gets credit for it."

“Sarah set up Alaska for success by getting out of the way and putting her successor in place, then showed us (with salmon in hand) that she’s willing to get dirty to get the job done. Oh, yeah!”

hehe yeah, and she’s tough (its very hard work) and can take criticism (from her husband about how she helps) and has been doing it 20 years (persistance).

Those twits in the MSM don’t even realise they had been set up by Palin for that. Man, she will be VERY HARD to beat.

This is the key passage for Alaskans. I hope they hear it:
But Palin can no longer achieve that vision as Alaska's chief executive. I've watched her try heroically since her return from the campaign trail. As she gave only a handful of interviews to the national press, Alaskan critics accused her of seeking the spotlight. As she practically glued herself to Alaska, leaving only for a few short trips, she was excoriated for "abandoning the state." Her admirable work in obtaining charitable assistance for economically suffering Western Alaska villages, and in facilitating employment for their residents, was thrown back in her face by critics who insisted that federal handouts were the only way to really help. And the drumbeat of frivolous complaints continued in the background, eating up the time and resources of her staff and the financial resources of the state - while legislators actually complained in the press that she no longer brought them bagels.

The only choice left to her, if she truly wanted to see her vision for Alaska carried forward, was to pass the ball to a teammate.

It's going to be fascinating watching her on the battlefield, free of the constraints of both Alaskan state politics and the incompetent McCain campaign. I can't wait.

Nice closing-sentence recap (and stinging slap upside Schmidt's head) by Mr. Lindell. Very well done indeed.

I contributed to her PAC last night - she needs the ammunition.

Thought about donating again to her legal fund but with a book deal and speaking engagements coming I’m thinking she won’t personally be short of money.

By far the best, most articulate defense of Palin I have read. I don’t want to fall in love with any politician, because even if the politician is not corrupt, he/she inevitably attracted leeches. Reagan certainly did; for every Judge Clark there was a ____(fill in the blank).

but I am more than willing to give her a chance. Let’s hope she is wise in choosing her staff.

I posted the same article, apparently at the same time as you did. Looks like your post stuck and mine disappeared.

No problem. The important thing is that this EXCELLENT article is posted.

I guess you missed it by "that much"...LOL. Glad you saw this article like I did, the most escellent reasoning of the Governor's actions that I have read.

I'm thrilled that an Alaskan online journal saw fit to post it. Alaskans need to read it, as well as as many Americans as possible. It needs to get out there.

They trashed our Republican governor (Matt Blunt) here in Missouri as well.

I'm not sure what we really could have done to help him. Bush-like, he didn't do too much to fight back on his own, against the Democrats, racists and other scum, along with their LeftMedia.

Sarah and her family DO seem to be out there on their own. VISIBLE conservative stalwarts are in short supply these days.

set the tone for all manner of moral, ethical and constitutional debates

One of Sarah's many strengths is that she is able to take a conservative message directly to the people. In doing so, she makes the MSM (Main stream media) and DBs (Drive-Bys) not relevant, takes them out of the game, and they know it.

I grew up believing every word spoken by Walter Cronkite. Many of the younger folks have had their version of local, regional and national "truth-tellers"

However, they have devolved into info-bots, repeating the daily press releases of the democratic party. You have to give it to the liberals, they have championed their ability to monopolize the news with their message.

Sarah Palin can take them out of the picture.

I got a big hoot out of seeing Andrea Mitchell, leaving the comfort of the Big City, and having to travel to Dillingham. There a little, yet competent lady was working side-by-side with her husband, working the family business, as they have done together all of their marriage.

Real Americans treasure the ability of a married couple being able to work together doing something that is both difficult and uncomfortable at best.

Sarah proves that she is not beneath real work and that she and Todd have a real strong relationship. (Probably as much to his credit as to hers)

And there was Sarah, sticking to her guns, telling Andrea "you're not listening to me!"

A nice way of saying - "I know you traveled several thousand miles to get her, that you are uncomfortable with these conditions, but even still, I am not giving you a platform to use this to put words into my mouth".

It was also a hoot to see Andrea in a set of waders, yet for her, being as the conditions there are far from urban (think dirt, mud, gravel and just the general filth of any fishing area), that for Andrea the waders were the closest thing she could get to a body condom.

The DBs are working very hard to put the little lady into a box. But it is not going to work.

Andrea went to Sarah's turf to try a little Katie Couric on her and she came away helping Sarah look even better.

It is going to be fun to watch. The little point guard "Sarahcuda" bringing the ball down the court against larger opponents, but they continue to under-estimate her on many levels. It will be fun to watch how she sets up the plays. When she starts passing the ball to other conservatives and giving them opportunities to score, her value for the conservative team will become even more evident.

The other question for me is whether Sarah's efforts will revitalize Republicans, or if a true revolt within politics will occur and a viable conservative political movement will spring forth.

Can anyone say Green Conservative Shoots??

I have a VERY positive opinion of Sarah. Now she’s one of us and can fight the fight the right way....without being barred or slowed down with politics.

GO SARAH!!! Even if she doesn’t continue “in politics”....she’s still ONE OF US and out there in the public eye, with the MSM spotlight, sharing what we’re ALL sayin’. THIS GOVERNMENT SUCKS AND WE DON’T WANT SOCIALISM!!!

Like others who commented, I think it’s the best piece I’ve read thus far.

I suspect you know that the author is also one of the editors at Consersatives4Palin. That’s where I first saw the link this morning. Those guys are doing a fantastic job with their investigative pieces on the ankle-biters et al. Precise and hard-hitting.
