Warren panders to Muslim group, omits gospel
One News Now | 7/9/2009

The leader of a Messianic Jewish ministry has written an open letter to mega-church pastor Rick Warren in response to his address to a Muslim group with terrorist connections during its annual convention over the Fourth of July weekend.

As reported by OneNewsNow, Warren, who pastors Saddleback Church in California, agreed to appear at the recent convention of the Islamic Society of North America and be part of its main session discussing the convention's theme -- "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." He told the gathering of 8,000 that "Muslims and Christians can work together for the common good without compromising my convictions or your convictions."

Jan Markell, founder of Olive Tree Ministries, comments on Warren's remarks.

"I'm sorry, that kind of a 'let's all get along' [solution] is not possible -- and what he needed to do was tell them the truth," she contends. "But that is not what Rick Warren does. He does not tell the truth, at least not when he's outside of his Saddleback Church."

According to Markell, there were Muslims in Warren's audience who were very hungry for the gospel. She says Warren's simply saying "my deepest faith is in Jesus Christ" was not enough when addressing a thoroughly lost crowd.

"They're tired of the bloodshed. They're tired of the violence. They're tired of the suicide bombers. They want something else in life -- so they're just waiting for a preacher to come and tell them," she says. "In this case, the preacher comes and tells them 'let's get along' and 'let's hold hands together.'"

Markell admits she is disappointed that Warren seemed more interested in ecumenical unity and solving AIDS, poverty, and other social issues than taking advantage of an opportunity that 99.9 percent of American Christians could never get.

He's either clueless or deliberately morphed himself into an Islam sycophant. Much Like Obomba.

As the Scriptures plainly teach in the book of Galations concerning the salvation gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour and those who profess another gospel and their doom in hell;

GAL 1:1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

GAL 1:2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

GAL 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

GAL 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

GAL 1:5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

GAL 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

GAL 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

GAL 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

GAL 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

GAL 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

GAL 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

GAL 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

GAL 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

GAL 1:14 And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

GAL 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,

GAL 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

GAL 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

GAL 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

GAL 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.

GAL 1:20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

GAL 1:21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

GAL 1:22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

GAL 1:23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

GAL 1:24 And they glorified God in me.

And in other news, the sky is blue.

Warren used to have many defenders here, now he has exposed himself for what he really is — an opportunistic marketeer.

He wants to be popular more than he wants to speak the truth.

During the last election cycle, someone here said he appeared to be a carnie barker.

Another person said a sleazy game show host.

I agree with them.

Oh yes... let’s get the assistance of “the moderate voices of evil” to help us Christians solve the world’s problems.

Sorry Rick, you’ve shown what a fool you are.

“Warren used to have many defenders here, now he has exposed himself for what he really is — an opportunistic marketeer.”

Was there any truth reports Sarah Palin had sought his spiritual guidance during the campaign and he went public with their conversations? I remember reading it last September, but I don’t know if it was substantiated.

solving AIDS, poverty, and other social issues

He's taking the secular approach to these problems and not the biblical approach. One conclusion, his belief in God's Word is weak. What comes to mind is Matt 7:22,23.

Since Sarah Palin knows better, I doubt seriously if she “sought his spiritual guidance” but more likely she sought his support because he has a following among many Christians, wrong as it is.

Seems he called her first and then she returned the call. He had no right, IMO, to even speak of this.

Rick Warren is the “Fredo Corleone” of evangelicals.

There will always be poor. What is the “solution”?

What is the “solution” to hunger?

Apparently Rick Warren does not fear God.

The Christian community has always given to the hungry - worldwide and in local soup kitchens. Ever see a muslim/mosque do that? Rick never addressed that. He spoke more as a politician than as a pastor. His need to be liked among the masses is evident.

Giving to the poor does not SOLVE poverty, it merely alleviates the problems of some who suffer.

We should help out those without (private assistance, not government programs, there is no charity in forced taxation). But it isn’t a “solution”.

He wants a solution to the AIDS crisis. There are things we can do to reduce transmission. And adults who have AIDS should think twice about having kids they will pass it along to. There are other diseases that also run through societies. But they aren’t so politicized. We are told “Reagan didn’t do enough”. It’s not Reagan’s problem anymore and there still is no cure.

Giving to the poor does not SOLVE poverty

I agree and never said it does. You asked about hunger and I was replying about hunger. We are to feed the hunger - did he chastise or even advice the muslims to start giving to world hunger or give credit to the Christians who give big time to this world problem? Again, no!

private assistance, not government programs

I agree, again. I didn't say anything about gov't programs. I said the church and that is private assistance - donations from Christians both w/time and money.

AIDS, Did Rick say AIDS is a consequence of sin? No. After all, he wouldn't want to offend anyone. He spoke like a politician not as a pastor. Abstinence first - then they can stop the spread.
