The quarterly report includes anecdotal summaries. For example, the case manager at a Richmond shelter reported seeing a greater number of "individuals who have held professional, skilled-craft positions." Another official in Kentucky said: "One day last month, we had to turn away three families due to full capacity."

So, Barney Frank and his fellow ‘social engineers’ in Washington pushed programs that they thought would increase home ownership, but as a consequence there are more homeless families. Just another example of the unintended consequences of government intervention. Now they turn their attention to health care.

Can you help me? I couldn’t find the part of the article that blamed it on Obama’s policies. Honest, I tried...

Oh, that's an easy one.

Orszag: Obama inherited economic woes

Published: March. 8, 2009 at 8:40 PM
U.S. President Barack Obama inherited an economic mess from his predecessor, White House Budget Director Peter Orszag said Sunday.

But even so, Orszag said he remains confident the new administration can tackle the nation's economic woes.

"We are like a relief pitcher stepping into the ninth inning and we can't just redo the whole game," Orszag said on CBS' "Face the Nation," noting that the nation's economic woes have been "eight years in the making."

Orszag took aim also at recent Republican plans to help put the U.S. economy back on track. He said the senior Republican on the House Budget Committee, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, has proposed $3 trillion dollars in tax cuts "for the wealthy and corporations" as a way of jumpstarting the economy.

"As Ronald Reagan once put it, there they go again," Orszag said. "We have had eight years of one approach, did not work."

That’s a scary analogy; hadn’t thought of it that way.

Yea, this “homeless” problem is only going to worsen and when it’s “families” it becomes a very long term problem. It’s past time for those who can to get out and away from major Metropolitan areas.

http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/topstocks/archive/2009/07/06/true-unemployment-rate-already-at-20.aspx

Deutsche Bank's chief U.S. economist Joseph LaVorgna wonders how much of this decline is due people exhausting their standard 26-week benefit. He says: "We are concerned about what will happen when a significant share of out-of-work individuals' benefits completely expire, because this could lead consumer spending to re-weaken, hence jeopardizing a fragile recovery."

Unless the economy starts getting traction here in the third quarter, we could face a situation where people find that they have no job and no unemployment benefits. For these people, 2009 will feel an awful lot like 1932. As a result, spending cuts will be deep and dramatic.

What? No big news stories on the homeless? Oh, I forgot. Bush is no longer president.

There are more and more families being forced out of their homes because they can’t afford them. When your layed off and can’t afford the payments the govt says to contact your mortgage company. How are you supposed to renegotiate your loan if you have no income coming in.
