What is the most efficient vehicle on the planet? And more importantly, how far can it go on a single liter of gas? The Microjoule is your answer, getting over 3,794 kilometers per liter, or approximately 8,923 miles per gallon! Looking less like a car than an amoeba-on-wheels, the Microjoule is the design of students from the French Technical School, St. Joseph La Joliverie, who are set to compete in the Eco-Marathon 2008 to be held in Europe this coming May.

Not practical in the least, but it’s kinda cool that someone can get that kind of mileage. assuming this is true

Interesting! Now can that technology expand the car while getting the same MPG? If the students could produce that idea, a giant step forward for all mankind.

I remember watching Carnegie Mellon kids streaking down the hills when working at the Phipps Conservatory. They were in Kevlar suits with wheels on the four corners. Must have been getting a bazillion mills to the gallon until they hit the Monongahela,

One can walk and not have to use ANY reference to MPG.
What's the point?

Great car. I saw a new hybrid Mercury Milan (Fusion’s sister car) on the road the other day in a silver and it was really nice.

I do not believe it. If we increased the volume by 8X, then is should comfortably sit 4 people and have an increased wind resistance of 4x, thus be able to get 2000 mpg for a 4 passenger car. I suspect some kind of cheating is going on, such as only driving from the west to east on a downhill slope with a tailwind.

I pray for the day when we can tell the Saudis and their brethen that we dont need their damn oil! We could have told them that decades ago regardless.
We just don't because of political directive.

I’m not sure that’s true. We could sure as hell produce a lot more oil...I’m not sure it would be enough to totally obviate the need for Middle East oil, but however it comes from innovation or political will, I look forward to the day!
