Pelosi recently rammed through federal paid paternity leave for 30 days for adopting and birth. Congressman caller this morning indicated it would be for either (both ?) male and female parents because of the "gay adoption criteria" as gays try to get more foreign born babies recruited to the their lifestyle.
(Previous policy was unpaid leave.)

Plenty of corporations offer this benefit so I don’t see an issue with it.
Most employers only give unpaid leave to mothers, unless you happen to have extended vacation time, which is not allowed at the company I work at. We get 15 days PTO a year and it cannot be carried forward. Use it within the calendar year or lose it.
Well I do. This is coming out of the hide of the US taxpayer at a very bad time.
Besides, what private corporations do with their employment contracts is entirely up to them. After all they are competing for the best workers in a free labor-market.
It’s a catch 22. I would like qualified and talented people to work in government so it runs better and we have less stiffs clogging the jobs. On the other hand, we really don’t need to offer more than the market will bear.
We don't want Government clerk-typists across the board necessarily getting the same perks as Fortune 500 companies IMO.
Why a paid month off for new babies and no month off for serious illness, caring for a dying parent, etc. etc. etc. It will never end.
Well, they’re all a bunch of mothers.
Lesson learned: If the Governor has cut your hours down to a 3 or 4 day work week.. no problem, knock her up.
The real question is: how many government supervisors will notice that they have been gone?
