Remember those old Pantene shampoo ads with ’80s modeling sensation Kelly LeBrock? “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.”

Apparently women like Maureen Dowd and Liz Trotta didn’t get the memo. (Perhaps Keith Olbermann fits into this category as well.) They’re still hounding Sarah Palin — Dowd with her recycled “Caribou Barbie” shtick that passes for humor in the sourly elite pages of the New York Times, and Trotta’s contention that Palin is “inarticulate and undereducated,” hadn’t accomplished anything, “brought the attacks on herself,” is “wacky and nutty,” and only got ahead because of her looks. Oh, and Trotta thinks Dowd is funny and witty. So do I — when compared to having a root canal. Actually, I think the root canal is preferable (yes, I have had one)....

The “average American who doesn’t read the New York Times” is what Katie Couric’s “What Newspapers do you read?” was all about. Any liberal candidate running from a big metropolitan area like New York, Chicago, or Washington, DC has a readily available left-wing city paper that they can rattle off, even if they don’t really read it, which is sure to have backed them for their last election and that the mainstream media will approve of as a serious paper.

there's a serious and sexist observation here. while men and women SWOON and abject themselves at (so-called) handsome men like barack obama, what women have been regarded the same way? in truth, women who are not attractive (nancy pelosi) are regarded as the gold standard of beauty, while a truly beautiful woman like palin are treated as stupid, unbelievably crude and unrefined.

there's a distinct whiff of MSM and dem (and even some republican) sexism in this. republicans are ALWAYS treated as stupid, undereducated buffoons who happened to get elected. snobs like john kerry, who had a lower gpa than w. are regarded as really, really smart individuals. crackerjacks.

The more I’ve seen, heard and read, the more I am Convinced that the MSM, along with Good ol’Boys and Women’s libbers, are simply AFRAID of Sarah Palin! If there ever was an “IT” girl and a Star, politically speaking, She is one. She simply outshines all of them. Granted there are many things she needs to learn before running for President, but anyone who underestimates her may live to regret it.
