Rove Deposed? READ Federalist 47!
The Democrats continue to mutate the design of our Constitution, first by asking for more subpoena powers (S. 836) and now are acting as a law enforcement body. Federalist 47 specifically cites such moves as the very definition of tyranny.
From Federalist 47:
One of the principal objections inculcated by the more respectable adversaries to the Constitution, is its supposed violation of the political maxim, that the legislative, executive, and judiciary departments ought to be separate and distinct. In the structure of the federal government, no regard, it is said, seems to have been paid to this essential precaution in favor of liberty. The several departments of power are distributed and blended in such a manner as at once to destroy all symmetry and beauty of form, and to expose some of the essential parts of the edifice to the danger of being crushed by the disproportionate weight of other parts. No political truth is certainly of greater intrinsic value, or is stamped with the authority of more enlightened patrons of liberty, than that on which the objection is founded. The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, selfappointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.
Were the federal Constitution, therefore, really chargeable with the accumulation of power, or with a mixture of powers, having a dangerous tendency to such an accumulation, no further arguments would be necessary to inspire a universal reprobation of the system. I persuade myself, however, that it will be made apparent to every one, that the charge cannot be supported, and that the maxim on which it relies has been totally misconceived and misapplied. In order to form correct ideas on this important subject, it will be proper to investigate the sense in which the preservation of liberty requires that the three great departments of power should be separate and distinct. The oracle who is always consulted and cited on this subject is the celebrated Montesquieu. If he be not the author of this invaluable precept in the science of politics, he has the merit at least of displaying and recommending it most effectually to the attention of mankind. Let us endeavor, in the first place, to ascertain his meaning on this point. The British Constitution was to Montesquieu what Homer has been to the didactic writers on epic poetry. As the latter have considered the work of the immortal bard as the perfect model from which the principles and rules of the epic art were to be drawn, and by which all similar works were to be judged, so this great political critic appears to have viewed the Constitution of England as the standard, or to use his own expression, as the mirror of political liberty; and to have delivered, in the form of elementary truths, the several characteristic principles of that particular system. That we may be sure, then, not to mistake his meaning in this case, let us recur to the source from which the maxim was drawn.

Founders’ Ping list. Freepmail me if you would like on this list.
The winners of war define history and we are at war with the liberals.
The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, selfappointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.
How many czars are we up to? 17? 18?
I heard on Fox yesterday we are up to 33 czars.....!!!!
Nooooooooooo! Say it ain’t so!
I’m a little confused. Although I am certain that the deposition is nothing more than a political witchhunt concocted in the Dems blind rage against all things Bush, I am equally concerned (and always have been) at the concept of executive privilege that Bush used to avoid this mess while in office.
That Congress seeks insight into the workings of the Executive branch is not a violation of separation of powers or an unjust accumulation of power leading to tyranny. Quite the opposite, in my opinion. As the representatives of the people, it is their responsibility. Imagine a Republican controlled Congress that calls one of Obama’s czars or czarinas to testify and the czar refuses, citing executive privilege. We would be justifiably outraged.
Besides, Rove can handle Conyers, et al. They are not even in his league.

And they all have assistants I presume? And they all have secretaries? And they all have a staff? And they all have cars? And they all travel? And they all have offices? Lodging and meals.
As the Talking Heads sang: Stop Making Sense.
Or as Madison, Washington, Jefferson and Adams would sing today, “This is not my beautiful house.” ;-)
CommieCzars?
Hey! That's the pun I used in the title of my Russian history paper back in college:
Lithuanian and the CommieCzars: A Case Study in Colonialism
If Congress believes that laws have been violated it may turn the matter over to enforcement authorities who may properly investigate matters.
The current "representatives of the people" are not that, otherwise they would have voted unanimously to impeach Clinton - then not removed him from power. They are party powers, nothing more. The fact that Clinton fired the entire set of DOJ lawyers without the Republicans howling provides the kill shot to points of justice on behalf of this congress. This is party politics, nothing more.
Yes, we are in a downhill slide to tyranny. As you alluded to, what we are now experiencing is the results of accumulated error - step by step into the abyss.
I am seeing some weakening of the Pro-Obama views of a couple of my liberal friends. He is SO bad that even some I-D-10-T’s are seeing the truth.
Completely agree. Of course it is also one of the unfortunate, and probably unavoidable, side-effects of our form of government.
Actually, it is the worst that our politics has risen. Never before have the PartySenators blocked votes of judicial nominees at the committee level. Never before have officers of the Executive been forced to testify before a congressional committee for solely political purposes.
Washington’s Farewell address comes to mind....he has an excellent section of party spirit.
