The political crisis in Honduras had its origin in the fear of many Hondurans that their country would become another Venezuela. True or not, that triggered the ouster of a president. Manuel Zelaya was afraid to seek reelection in a way illegal and that Honduras had an authoritarian government. And it poured.
These are the conclusions I took after a conversation from Tegucigalpa to the president of Honduras, Roberto Micheletti. The solution-get Zelaya with military and non-isolated with a view to Honduras and the world was seen by the UN and the OAS as a flagrant violation of democracy. Micheletti was not recognized by any country as president. When I commented on these concerns of the deposed Honduran president Manuel Zelaya, said in an interview from Panama that such fears do not justify a coup. He continues to insist that never sought re-election. However, the current crisis in Honduras it highlights, at least by contagion, the enormous tension that is causing the wave of re-elections in Latin America.
Imagine this. Is playing the final of a football tournament, and suddenly, one team said that instead of 90 minutes wants to prolong the game that lasts 135 minutes, or until you want. Absurd. It would be 5 times more effective if the rough [sometimes illigocal] translation was reworded into everyday English.
As it is, it will reach only those with the patience and savy to read the right words where the translation is inaccurate.
I have strong opinions about this - I used to rewrite manuals on large scale mainframe computers from roughly-translated-Japanese [we called it “Janglish”] into something the techie on Madison Ave could understand. Getting it right is essential. Most people don’t like “reading between the lines”.

Agree...
I learn a lot by looking at spanish media. In many ways they are 100 times better than U.S.
That said, I agree with you about the limitations of computer-based lexical translation of spoken languages, and the resulting poor quality.
well you know, google translator has a long way to go.

BTW football=soccer (you normaly play 90 min, but it can be extended by the referee)
I understand and agree. Yet, one reason for the mess that we have in America today is the shocking slide of critical thinking and serious dialogue. We prefer to be "Amused to Death."
