Palin's new pressure and potential payoff
The Dallas Morning News ^ | July 7, 2009 | Mark Davis

Talk about nerve. The very notion of leaving an elected office occupied for barely two years. Even if it is to run for president, that makes it even more peculiar in view of the candidate's lightweight résumé of political experience.

I refer, of course, to Barack Obama.

Cheap stunt, but it makes my point. Sarah Palin's electoral track record, of course, is far longer than that of Obama, who overcame his meager credentials, and longer even than that of George W. Bush when he ran for president.

Granted, the departing Alaska governor's early political career is defined within the walls of a small-town city hall, but is that somehow less valid than years spent as baseball team co-owner or a community organizer?

The 2008 election redefined experience. As such, it is comical to read the sneering attacks launched toward Palin by hateful columnists who exalted Obama's decision to chuck his elected office and reach for the White House brass ring.

One difference is that Obama did it on the public dime, while still technically a U.S. senator. Palin at least has the decency to pursue her "higher calling" without the necessary long stretches away from her actual job.

So she leaves that job for a very uncertain future. Will she use this time to broaden herself, campaign for key people in 2010 and develop a strong foundation of voters that admires her as much for issues advocacy as spunk?

If so, she becomes a commodity to be reckoned with, a fact easily readable in the venom of her mocking detractors.

I was halfway through Todd Purdum's vicious Vanity Fair piece on Palin when I heard of her decision to step down. Among the first things I read afterward were the even more acrimonious New York Times columns...(continued)

This is hilarious. I read the first sentence and thought he was talking about Obama. As I read on, I found out that he was. LOL!

The media is just furious at Palin for not explaining what she will do next, predicting her future with 100% accuracy and checking with them to make sure it’s all ok.

I love how she zigs and zags. Our government is paralyzed and the media is happy to keep feeding the masses tranquilizers to make sure it stays that way.

The shock of this reflects the mindset that the liberals have sold us already about Sarah Palin, and it's not been a week yet since she said she was resigning.

17 years of elective and appointed experience in office
Plus she ran her own business
There's simply no comparison here when people here say she's "inexperienced" (And how ironic is it for lefties to say
she's a "quitter" when just last year she was inexperienced and incompetent?)

I don't know if Palin is going to run for the WH, but I do know that the rules have been thrown out the window thanks to Zero.
No more needing 2 terms as Governor or Senator to run for President anymore...

I listened and read Gov. Palin’s speech, and could clearly see why she stepped down.

She said that she and Todd had to pay $500,000 in frivolous law suits. They always win, mind you, because they are INNOCENT, but they still have to pay to defend themselves.

While Sarah is tough if she herself is being attacked, she does not want her teenage child (I’m boycotting Letterman), and innocent baby attacked.

The frivolous law suits, besides costing her and Todd $$, are also causing her to spend less time governing Alaska, because she has to defend herself.

Still don’t like Palin stepping down. It makes her look like she can’t stand the heat, even if it is from the MSM jerks. Why couldn’t the MSM have gone after Barry? He was at the TOP of the ticket.

She can take the heat and has taken more heat than any politician. She knows they won’t stop w/lawsuits and it’s costs Alaska money and her/Todd plus time away from her job dealing w/it. Nothing about heat - it’s about doing the right thing for Alaska.

Why couldn’t the MSM have gone after Barry? They could have and that’s their job - they didn’t want to because he’s their socialist boy. Evil doesn’t like goodness - so they unmercifully attack Sarah.

As Palin said today in the interviews, the ethics charges and frivolous state spending would have continued unabated for another 18 months. It wasn’t going to stop. As a private citizen, they cannot file ethics charges or waste taxpayer dollars in the process. And she doesn’t have to worry about spending half her time as governor fending off ridiculous charges. The argument that other governors get criticism doesn’t hold much water, either. There is a big difference between the criticism/hatred that Romney and Huckabee received as governor when compared to Palin. No contest. The hate-filled vitriol she has been receiving is unprecedented in modern politics.

“The media is just furious at Palin for not explaining what she will do next, predicting her future with 100% accuracy and checking with them to make sure it’s all ok.”

I think she was disgusted with her treatment by the press and decided to have a little fun at their expense. She picked a holiday weekend when everyone in the newsroom was on vacation with their families and then she made the announcement. She made it in Alaska, forcing them all to drop everything and scramble to Alaska only to find that she stated everything in her speech. No questions to be answered. No conspiracy theories to investigate. It was obviously the biggest newsstory on a patriotic American weekend and yet there were no scoops for anyone. She threw them all into a code red panic and they still don’t even know why she quit.

Sarah just smiled and shrugged.

I would add it was all planned by Gov. Palin and her small team. She wanted her state to know frist then the lower 48 news. Doing it on 7/3 was symbolic for her freedom.

Alinsky rule 10:

“The major premise for TACTICS is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this UNCEASING PRESSURE that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.”

Alinsky rule 13:

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it...”

With Sarah now a civilian and not letting on what she will be doing after July 25th it will make it much more difficult for Obama’s war room to hit a moving target and to maintain any constant pressure on her.

They didn’t go after Barry because the fix was in, he was the MSM’s candidate. Watch about 4 minutes 20 seconds into this interview, they had him (forgive the potentially racist comment) in a black and white lie.

Of course you don’t believe the press could be “manipulated” into lying like this, so many reporters, so independent. I say BS to that, ALL OF THEM tell you the SAME thing, over and over.

Even this OBVIOUS SOLUTION to a huge MYSTERY is still reported as a lie, but you won’t get it, the brain washing has been very effective, you can no longer think without the MSM telling you what to think.
