Democrats held a six- or seven-point lead over the GOP for the first several weeks of 2009. That began to slip in early February, and since mid-April, the parties have been roughly even.... Voters not affiliated with either party like GOP candidates by a 37% to 21% margin, showing little change since last week... Fifty-four percent (54%) of U.S. voters say the average Democrat in Congress is more liberal than they are, while 36% believe the average Republican congressman is more conservative in comparison to themselves... Oops... in excerpting several articles, I buried the lede. It’s 41-38 Republicans.

It’s change all right, but apparently not of the kind that America can believe in!

This is good news, especially since things, i.e., stock market, unemployment, consumer confidence, etc. will be worse in November 2010 than they are now.

Men prefer Republicans by a 44% to 36% margin. Women are more evenly divided this week, favoring Democrats 40% to 37%.

Good thing the elections weren’t held today, then. We still have time to get Conservatives in a position to be elected, instead of “Republicans”

Comforting, but let's not forget that the elections won't be held today nor for nearly a year and a half.

Keep up the pressure.

Please do not alter the title from the original - it makes the article impossible to find with Search to avoid duplication. Thanks.

You should post the actual title of the article instead of replacing it with your own. You can put comment in parenthesis after actual title.

The title you put contains an idea that is nowhere in the article you posted.

If poll says generic vote is 55/45 rep/dem, that doesn’t mean proportion of congressmen would be that way after an actual vote. In reality only a small portion of races are competitive each year. This poll is encouraging but how it translates into actual seat transfers is not clear.

Ladies. Talk to your friends. Please.

Believe me, I have tried ----- and have concluded that many (not saying most, but many) women should NOT have the right to vote at all, and this is coming from a woman !!

Either they swoon over how cute so and so is, or as in the case with my sister -- is just plain stupid. When we talked back in 2000 about the election, she told me that she couldn't vote for GWB because he wouldn't support the Kyoto Treaty. When I asked her to tell me what the Kyoto Treaty was --- all I got was a blank stare. I told her she was dumber than a box of rocks and she didn't deserve the right to vote. Go get educated before you open your mouth and show how dumb you are.

Well unfortunately, in discussions about dumbo, I learned that she choose NOT to take my advice ---- COOL, ROCK STAR !!! Cannot believe she is from the same gene pool as I am

Two issues. Number 1, the elections are NOT being held today. Number 2, the GOP is currently about as effective at communicating it’s message as a quadriplegic Helen Keller. The only reason they are ahead is the dems are overreaching (look familiar, GOP?) and alienating the American people. If Obama pulls it back, which he will, this entire lead will evaporate.

Mark Belling, on Rush’s show today, verbalized what I’ve posted on FR for at least two years. Conservatives must climb into the Liberal sewer and fight Liberal RATs using their tactics back on them. Nice guys come in last. In this case, our nation is coming in last.

That’s right, grumpy pants. The GOP is doing a HORRIBLE job of communicating it’s message. It’s in complete, utter and horrible disarray. And it’s still out in front. Obama can’t pull back. He’s already laid out his ambitions. If he pulls back, it’s weakness and defeat. And the damage he’s done still shocks and awes the American people.

The battle is to pull close enough in the Senate to win big in 2012, and to make sure there are no RINOs to despoil the party name again.

Seriously... you think the GOP OVER-REACHED? If by over-reaching, you meant tried to desperately to pretend they were Democrats, maybe you’re right.

You know you're right, I take that back, overreach was the wrong word. It connotes the GOP was actually trying to get its bills passed, which they didn't largely. Yes, they got the tax cuts, which was a damn fine accomplishment in its own right, and they fought terrorism. They thought, however, that their majority was the beginning of a new era. The people had seen the light, and so they could get comfortable, because they weren't going anywhere. Rove's "permanent majority" spoke to that notion. The dems are doing the same thing, only they're doing it about three times faster than the GOP ever did, probably because they feel that it's only right they be in power. They feel entitled, and that supremely gilded arrogance is showing.

I'm not trying to be grumpy. When I look at the absolute mess the dems are making of the country, I look at a poll like this as akin to beating a dead man in basketball by one point. Why aren't we blowing these fools out of the water? Because the message is incoherent. The deliverers are incompetent. The end result is unarticulated.

And don't think it's not happening in Massachusetts. Today, lifelong Democrat Timothy Murray, the Treasurer of the Commonwealth, changed his party registration from Democrat to "unenrolled" and said the obvious, that the Democrats in Massachusetts have no understanding that spending and taxing are the solution to prosperity.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Murray puts the following bumpersticker on his car:

Cap Taxes, Trade in Your Legislator!
