7 US troops killed throughout Afghanistan

KABUL (AP) - Bombs and bullets killed seven American troops on Monday, the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan in nearly a yearand a sign that the war being fought in the Taliban heartland of the south and east could now be expanding north.
Separately, Taliban militants claimed on a militant Web site that they were holding an American soldier whom the U.S. military says insurgents might have captured last week. The Taliban statement, however, did not include any proof, such as a picture or the soldier's name.
Four of the deaths Monday came in an attack on a team of U.S. military trainers in the relatively peaceful north, bringing into focus the question of whether the U.S. is committing enough troops to secure a country larger than Iraq in both population and land mass.
On a visit to Moscow, President Barack Obama said it's too soon to measure the success of his new strategy in Afghanistan. He said the U.S. can take another look at the situation after the country's presidential elections on Aug. 20.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in some respects, progress has been "insignificant" in Afghanistan. He said it's hard to say how quickly the situation will improve.
Obama has ordered 21,000 additional American troops to this country, mainly in the south where Taliban militants have made a violent comeback after a U.S.-led coalition topped them from power in late 2001. The U.S. expects 68,000 troops here by year's end, double last year's total but still half as many as now in Iraq.

God bless Our military and God bless the families of our lost troops and their friends... I do not want to take away from the lose our our man and women in uniform but I am so upset at the hypocrisy of the liberals! Where is this on the front page news, where is Cindy Sheehan camping out in front of Obama's door and demanding to talk with Obama? Where's the media? No coverage of our troops but every one is talking about Micheal Jackson...................

I love our Military... heroes all... I pray for them daily... they serve under the most inept and corrupt CiC in all of our History. Never before have our gallant troops been commanded by someone from within our enemy's camp... but there you have the reality of their position.

Forgive me, but I resent your polluting the headline of this report of our fallen soldiers with that moonbat’s name.
Her fifteen minutes is over and done and if I never hear of her again it will be too soon.

Why are we fighting Obama’s war in Afghanistan anyway?
He said he would withdraw troops all he has done is place them in anoher country at war.
Another war being fought by a half wit president.

I can’t help but wonder if their new directive to be hyper careful about civilian casualties and other lefty war policies has somehow brought about the deaths of American heroes. It wouldn’t suprise me in the least.
I heard a rant on the radio from a Republican named King regarding the insane worship of Michael Jackson and barely a passing mention when one of the troops is killed. I would have stood and applauded him had I not been driving. Goes to show how truly lost society is, as a whole.

Yeah funny how Sheehan just went away after she was used by the media. They just discard the trash when their done, don’t they? She was a useful stooge for a while there though.
To: blueyon
No, because this is still Bush’s war.
To: blueyon
Interesting responses to this horrible news. My only reaction is sorrow for the loss of the soldiers and the fact that their families just got the worst news of their lives.

Please don’t go there. A lot of us who have loved ones serving come to FR to get away from moonbats. If we use titles like that we use the dead just like the left does and where does that put us?

From a June 10,2009 article....
-snip-
Tuesday night, Sheehan railed not only against Bush and his policies but also against President Barack Obama and other politicians who Sheehan says are perpetuating Bushs war policies.
Its about challenging the policies and not the person, Sheehan said after her talk, referring to her willingness to now protest Obamas actions. Ive been in several protests of Obama, and theres no coverage, but then I go protest George Bush in Dallas, and theres an overwhelming amount of media coverage.
The protester, who was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize following her Crawford vigil, repeatedly referred to the two classes she sees in America, the robbers and the robbed.
A poignant moment at the event came during the question-and-answer session after Sheehans talk. A man asked Sheehan if she would be who she is and do what she does if it werent for April 4, the date her son was killed in Sadr City, Iraq.
After Sheehan said she could not answer that hypothetical question, the man, Timothy Priddy, told her that his platoon was there the day Casey was killed.
Following the event, Priddy said he agrees with some of Sheehans beliefs but wonders if she is tarnishing her sons legacy.
I agree, but at the same time I think she degrades what he stood for, Priddy said. I understand where shes coming from, but my point is, if it wouldnt have happened, would she be here today, or would she be living the life that shes arguing against?
Three years after Crawford protests, Cindy Sheehan returns to speak in Waco

Where is the daily , no hourly body count? I don’t have TV and yet I could not get away from the constant harping on the caily death toll in Iraq.
To: LibLieSlayer
Our Troops are being killed for a farce. A dog and pony show by obama to make us think he is actually doing something for Afghanistan and our national security. This operation is meaningless and the administration knows it. It is temporary and without any real purpose. All it is doing is putting our Marines in harm's way so obama can give the impression of fighting terror.

I am afraid you are correct... nuke wazhiristan... kill all of the taliban that can be found... pay a bounty for every taliban head... and arm the Afghan army well... there are winning paths... but like I said... hussein is a leader from the enemy's camp.

To: blueyon; All
Please know that my reason for posting this story was 2 fold.
1)Draw attention to the bravery and service to our country of all the honorable young men and women in uniform. To offer up prayers for the families of the service man and women and to pray for those that lost a loved one. There is no greater sacrifice then to give your live for our Great Nation. The sorrow in my heart for the pain of the families is overwhelming. I truly mean it when my small little words say “God bless and hold each family in his arms and comfort them”.
2). Show the hypocrisy of the left, which is just plain wrong.
If anyone feels this threat is in poor taste and would in any way hurt or cause sorrow to the hearts of the families of Our service men and women, please post “pull it” and I will right away ask the mods. to pull it............

The Afghan army is totally corrupt as is the government. EVERYTHING in Afghanistan is about the drugs. Us, them, and the other guys.

The thread needed to be posted. Just ask the mods to pull the S creature off the title. Can they do that?
Honoring our Troops and Prayers for our Fallen Heroes is never in poor taste.
