Nation's Hospitals Agree to Forgo $155B in Revenue
The nation's hospitals have agreed to give up $155 billion in expected revenue over the next 10 years, money that will bring the White House closer to its goal of paying for broader health coverage, an industry source said tonight.
The agreement is between the White House, the Senate Finance Committee and the three major hospital groups: the American Hospital Association, the Federation of American Hospitals and the Catholic Health Association.
The hospital groups have agreed to reductions in Medicare payments, and the money they receive for providing uncompensated care will start being reduced. An announcement laying out the agreement is expected Wednesday

Which hospitals? Is there a list?
BS. They’ll give with one hand and take twice as much with the other.
Where do these numbers come from anyway. They are like the “Three Million Jobs SAVED” fiction.
I don’t understand this one bit.
Catholic Health Association? Any connection to the abortion school Notre Dame? Same American Catholic church who supports illegals flooding in causing me to pay for their free healthcare with my property taxes?
My doctor works for a Catholic hospital doctor group and if i go in I have to pay. Why is that?
This is bait and switch. In hospital speak it is called “cost shifting.”
Hospitals have different rates for different methods of paying.
Insurance companies pay one rate, Blue Cross pays a lower rate, Medicare/Medicaid pays even less. Self payers are a crap shoot.
If hospitals are agreeing to take less money for the government plans, they will be shifiting more to those with insurance.
Here in my area of NYC 2 major Catholic hospitals have closed in the last year primarily because of people ignoring their hospital bills. The reason this has happened, although it hasn’t been widely reported here, is that illegals were using these hospitals for care that should have been done by regular doctors-who they would have had to pay.
This agreement will speed up this process and force more good hospitals to close.
In this city middle income folks are getting royally screwed because from now on in an emergency they have only 2 choices of hospitals to attend, either city hospitals, which are absolute dens of horror or one of the high-end hospitals which are usually in Manhattan and much further away.
MEDICARE cuts (Not MEDICAID)
So, all this is balanced on the backs of the elderly and expendable. It will mean fewer services for them, higher fees, fewer options.
I know.
As it is now, hospitals lose money on government paid patients. These hospitals are apparently agreeing to lose even more, while pushing the losses to someone else I’m sure.
This is all smoke and mirrors.
I like your handle.
If you really want to survive ObamaCare, you'll have to stay in Mexico for one day, claim citizenship, and then sneak into the U.S. Go to the nearest Democrat/ACORN Registration Office and you'll be set for life.
What could be easier than being a leech? Well, I suppose a Congressman who has their own special 'Elitists-Only Health Care'.
Look, folks, let’s make this simple, easy to understand, and easy to explain to everyone you know. There is one and only one way to reduce the cost of health care: MAKE IT SUCK (pardon my francais). That is precisely what this government is going to do. Get rid of the best people, get rid of the best service, don’t reward initiative, innovation, or industriousness, and criminalize anyone who attempts to excel. Get a good look now at the last days of the Golden Age of American Medicine, and compare the satisfaction ratings of Americans with their health care to their satisfaction with this Congress.
I just turned 50. I don’t want to face the health care that will exist when I need it most. I shudder at the prospect.
Soylent Green - Invest in funeral homes NOW
On a recent visit to Aruba, I was told the government health care there flew their people to Miami for care too complex. Wonder where places like that will fly people to once Obamacare decimates the physician pool and replaces it with Obamacrony kids, no matter how incompetent. Of course his physician pool will be exempt from malpractice suits. I wonder if the trial lawyers are excited about having all physicians working for the federal government. Can’t sue them.
When you add a couple of lines....
Which will make private insurance more expensive
Which will drive more people to the "Public Option"
...the picture becomes clear.
Who spoke for all these hospitals? WHom did the Obama contact in each and every one of them that granted such concessions? I’ve worked in hospitals, known many Dr’s, a COS or 2 and a few board members and administrators...
AIN’T NO WAY they would agree to forgo THAT kind of $$. They are already losing $$ on all the hoops the Feds AND Insurance Companies force them to jump thru.
Uh-uh..; NO WAY.
exactly
