WOODBURY Chris Ford never worked on a political campaign until 2008.
Ford, a Republican, supported U.S. Sen. John McCain's presidential bid and was frustrated when he lost to Barack Obama.
But only hours after that setback, Ford began to think ahead to 2010 and a new potential target: U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd.
Ford is a driving force behind one of the first organized efforts to unseat Dodd in the 2010 election. His fledgling organization, while lacking in professional polish, may offer an early glimpse of the forces gathering against Dodd.
Ford said he first became annoyed with Dodd, 65, when Dodd relocated to Iowa to compete in that state's early presidential caucuses last year. His displeasure moved him to begin registering Web site domain names.
"He showed Connecticut that he didn't want to be senator," Ford said.
"He wanted to be president. He did the most unkind thing of all: He dumped Connecticut and moved his family to Iowa."
What started as an idea evolved into the Dump Dodd 2010 campaign, a conservative grassroots effort. The group's 40 to 50 active supporters attend the senator's local speaking events, document their protests on YouTube videos and post their stances on issues on their Web site, www.dumpchrisdodd.com.
Ford is a dimwit if that is the first time he 'became annoyed with Dodd'. He sounds like the type of RINO the GOP needs to dump.
Yes, he is but any enemy of Dodd's is not my enemy.
