One Party Left Behind [Denis Boyles]

Good news for conservatives is bad news for all those Republican-party types trying to make the GOP more liberal — at least if Gallup's right in their annual "ideology" review:

Despite the results of the 2008 presidential election, Americans, by a 2-to-1 margin, say their political views in recent years have become more conservative rather than more liberal, 39% to 18%, with 42% saying they have not changed. While independents and Democrats most often say their views haven't changed, more members of all three major partisan groups indicate that their views have shifted to the right rather than to the left.

Gallup uses 2004 as a comparison point:

Given the stark differences between the current political scene and the one surrounding the 2004 elections, 2004 represents a good comparison point for this analysis. Not only was there a five-point drop between 2004 and 2008 (from 51% to 46%) in the popular vote for the Republican presidential candidate, but there has been a similar drop (from 45% in 2004 to 40% in 2008 and 39% in 2009) in the percentage affiliating themselves with the Republican Party.

So more and more conservatives, fewer and fewer Republicans. This seems to me to be a pretty predictable tub-ring after the Bush presidency. As Pew reported few months ago, the party of preference is NOTA.

Of course. This is an dog bites man story. The only REAL story is where this logically leads: 3rd party, and failure for both the GOP and the 3rd party. IOW, lib/dems continue to prevail. So predictable....despite all those who will now come along to say suggest otherwise.

A RINO now is more liberal than a typical Democrat back in the 60s like Hubert Humphrey.

I don’t think that people are really more conservative... I think they never left feeling that way and the radicals have just taken over, and people have allowed them due to

1) people who cannot get over race(like blacks)
2) women(touchy-feely voters) who no longer take advice from the more practical gender men
3) rich liberals giving money influence voters to further liberal causes like environmental radicalism and abortion-on-demand.

You can just about count on some Ross Perot type to come along and complicate things soon. The GOP doesn't ever seem to figure out that one makes the tent biger by getting more people in it rather than merely adding fabric and ending up with a lot of empty space. The way the tent will actually get bigger is (as Reagan said) bold colors and real conservative values but the GOP seems to be plagued by folks who want to just add a couple tent poles and sew in extra fabric. If mental illness is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome the RINOS that run the GOP definitely meet the definition.

Too bad, really. The path "out of the woods" is so clearly posted and well lit but we seem to be incapable of getting any leader to point to it. Boortz probably has it right. That path gives power to the individual and the politicans just can't let go for any silly reason like "what would be best for the country". Better to rule in Hell...I suppose is what motivates our current crop of leadership. At what point will our leadership realize that the more they screw things up the more likely will circumstances turn against them? As surely as water seeks it's own level thinking people will always find a way to survive every "rigged game" and suckers will ultimately lose. As we "go Amish" to survive the people will take back power inevitably and what these bastards have done to our country will come back to bite them hard. It will be generations before "We The People" trust the NYSE or politicians again, if ever.
