McNamara was responsible for the deaths of 50,000 young Americans
Bullsh*t. Vietnam always was and always will be LBJ's war - period.
If anything, McNamara helped win WWII in a big way, which no one here on FR has mentioned or probably was even aware of.

Yup ~ McNamara and the firebombing of Japanese cities.

If we'd taken half the bucks that went down that rathole and thrown it into the nuclear weapons program, the war in Europe and East Asia would have been over much faster ~ and at far less cost in lives and materiele to the United States.

Almost forgot his part in that one ~

McNamara was a military analyst who wrote a report on (then) Maj. Gen. Curtis LeMay’s performance with the B-29 while LeMay was in charge of the XX Bomber Command (Kharagpur, India). Big deal!

From what I’ve read, the success of the strategic bombing campaign against Imperial Japan then (and later, when LeMay took charge of the XX Bomber Command) had a lot to do with LeMay and his fine men, and very little to do with “Doctor Strange.”
