Obama does that subconsciously but subconsciously-on-purpose. He really does give "tells" like that to his attitude toward people and groups (the suppression of which, in favor of civic peace, is the whole point of "courtesy" and "manners", as your mom pointed out to you I'm sure).
Fox's dramatic series with Tim Roth, Lie to Me, nailed both Obama and Slick Willie -- Willie's famous finger-wag, with his eyebrows raised and his eyes sliding off to one side, and Obama's digital unseemly gesture to McCain during one of the presidential debates. Obama should have lost the presidency right there, but people have sunk so low that they ignored the signal and elected him anyway. Well, the liberals and swing voters did.
Obama has sent out numerous clear signals that he scorns our friends and defers to other people, as Prelutsky points out. I think it tells us a lot about what he thinks of us as well.
