Am I the only one who sees the similarity? I tried to link as many sites to my article as I could to bolster my point. Well, I guess I will soon find out if anyone agrees or if I am just blowing smoke.
Bookmark for later.
Someone (at YAF) argued that Obama and the Democrats are always advocating “change,” or something “new” and “different.” They never admit to a heritage. In fact they have a heritage, one of failure. All the basic ideas have been tried! When you have an idea that has already failed, you position it as “new” rather than to admit your track record.
We've centralized power in the government since the Pharaoh. Kings, communist leaders, fascist dictatorships, are all variations upon a theme.
The really new, radical idea is freedom, to include free markets. The American state, conceived in liberty, is the new idea. Everything else is a throwback.
I’ve been thinking along EXACTLY the same lines over the past few months, with different but analogous reading materials. I’ve been reading about the Church, Luther/Reformation, monarchs... years from about 900 thru the 1500’s. Quite the battles, political and otherwise, of popes versus Kings, Papal Supremacy versus Royal Supremacy (compare today with the Executive Supremacy).
While there are some good points that you make, the whole matrix of your article is dependent on two myths: one, that the Dark Ages was such as you depicted it (if that is the case, then why were such beautiful creations as Gothic cathedrals created, universities established, and people during the “high” medieval age before the Black Death were as tall as present-day people); and two, the “Reformation” as instituted by Luther, Calvin, and their fellow travelers was needed. While there was a certain corruption of all too many clerics during the late medieval/Renaissance time period, the way those first Protestants went about their business was, in reality, the “zenith” of the first phase of the current secular Revolution against the order of Western civilization/Christendom.
Not exactly. How does special rights for homos fit in? And Abortion rights for women?
You should read OV’s articles I linked that help explane some of your questions. I can only go by what I read that was written by others with more knowledge than I. I was struck by the many similarities from that period and now.
Like I said read his articles and than tell me if you still disagree, OK?
See the tagline.
Not everything always works exactly the way it would, but I am basically talking about the way the socialists want to control everything in our lives as did the feudal lords of the middle ages.
Obviously you agree.....LOL
Good points and bookmarked for later reading.
Your tagline is great and its a pity that the morons at GOP.com don’t have that stat up on their homepage.
I been saying this for years we are headed towards a modern day Feudalism.
Any threads I posted on Feudalism or Hegelian the tool used to bring about the evil designs of men which only got a few post.
thanks for the article
The fall of the Roman Empire led to a thousand years of darkness in the Western world. One can only speculate what such a nightmare would look like today.
Youve got understand that the people who’ve now gotten their hands on the apparatus of the American State would rather rule in Hell than live in peace with the rest of us. They will happily reduce Western civilization to stinking pile of rubble and corpses as long as they believe that they will be the ones sitting on top of the ruins.
Why? Because a free and prosperous people cannot be enslaved. They must be broken first. Take a good long look at whats happening now in America. Then turn around and take another look. If what they’re saying doesn’t square with what they’re doing; if it looks like there’s an concerted effort to destroy our once Constitutional Republic and replace it with... something else - then you’re probably right. None of what’s happening today makes any sense unless you look at it that way - and then it makes a perfectly clear and terrible sort of sense, doesn’t it?
Pilgrims Socialist Experiment Failed too....

Some very good points.
And just like many people in the Middle Ages sold themselves into serfdom (to be taken care of by their overlords), many Americans are willing to trade their freedom and independence for comfort and security.
Fair enough- I will try to do so, and, ping him to this, and my post #5 for his response.
YES, unfortunately, it does.....
