I’m pretty sure Bill Kristol can keep a secret. He’d have no reason to leak and probably would have had a stronger defense for her.
But, as you stated, she didn’t even tell her ‘own’ press secretary.
I don't think it gets any better than "crazy like a fox".
His 'reaction' was likely much better than any pre-prepared response he would have made had he known ahead of time.
