2012: Myths and Misconceptions

Myth: Sarah Palin is finished after resigning as governor of Alaska.

With Governor Sarah Palin’s resignation as governor of Alaska, many feel that she is finished as a presidential hopeful. It may indeed mark the voluntary retirement of Sarah Palin, but I think her resignation is more likely to offend people in political circles than most voters.

Was it honorable for Palin to resign, to “bail out” on the people of her state, as Senator Lisa Murkowski put it? The fact of the matter is that if Palin chooses to make a presidential run, her approach may be more fitting than other political leaders in light of the reality that the preliminaries of the presidential campaign will require a lot of out of state travel in the coming year. Mitt Romney didn’t resign as governor of Massachusetts in 2006; he just spent 212 days out of state while holding the gubernatorial title. The question then is whether it is nobler in the eyes of men to quit a job you’re not going to have time to do, or to hold onto the job and not do it.

Perhaps we’d prefer Huckabee’s choice to ignore the presidential campaign until after his time as governor had lapsed. The result of Huckabee’s decision was that he found himself starting way behind Republicans who’d spent 2006 campaigning...

Hockey Mom gets my vote in 2012 if the Obama Marxists haven’t cancelled the elections by then.

It is more honorable to resign from office when you want to campaign rather than campaign from office on taxpayers dime and time.

One of the greatest political ills are the pereptual campaigns by office holders.

SARAH’S HIGHER CALLING:

Sarah Palin would do more for the nation, in my opinion – by taking over the RNC and kick Steele to the curb. She could get much more done for this nation as opposed to running for office - that could come later...

This would:

* Bring conservative principles back to the RNC (small government, get government out of our lives, lower taxes, 2nd amendment support, state's rights, small business support, lower taxes, strong defense, non-nonsense foreign policies). Conservatism works every time it is tried.

* She could be a credible spokesperson for energy, drilling, etc in light of sane environmental initiatives.

* She could, on a daily basis, take the wind out of Barry's sails on a host of his anti-American issues (bank take-overs, nationalization of large sectors of the economy, socialism, class warfare, generational theft, bigger government, job killing). Her media appeal would take away from the daily barrage of "new plans" put out ad nauseum by Barry, Rahm, Steffy, and 'Astro-Turf' Axelrod. She would be a countervailing force to the crap we get from the White Crib on a nearly hourly basis. If Republicans embraced the Twitter, Facebook, MySpace internet viral communications, it would be a direct hit against Barry's minions.

* She could - and this is the biggest reason she should take over the RNC - help with a 1994-esque take-over of both houses and start blocking the hopey-dopey-changey-strangey crap we have seen for the last 6 months.

The lefties MUST dismiss Sarah in their own minds, otherwise they could never sleep.

I predict a lot of sleepless nights for the left.

You know what bugs them most. It is that they see in Sarah the very same thing the wanted so desperately to see in bambi. Something, real and tangible.

With bambi, their hope and change was based on thin air, because the bambi gave them naught else. Bambi played a telling game, by promising very little, he thought he could get away with providing very little. It isn't working.

Sarah is!!!

" Mitt Romney didn’t resign as governor of Massachusetts in 2006; he just spent 212 days out of state while holding the gubernatorial title."

Thus unwittingly doing the people of Massachusetts a HUGE favor!

I like Sarah and voted for her in last election, but put me down as one who can’t see anything good coming from her resignation. Just makes no sense to get the independent voters she will need to get elected.

This should be the Palin game plan: Run for U.S. Senate in 2010 ... beat Murkowski in the primary ... win the general election ... Run for president in 2012 ... get the nomination ... beat Barry in the ‘12 general.
