$HADY LAND OF DODD ($$quid pro quo--got Clinton to pardon pal)

LISTS IRISH HIDEAWAY'S WORTH AS MERE $638G Sen Dodd (D-Conn) may have low-balled value of Ireland vacation property. Dodd's financial disclosures claim $638,000 for his 3-bedroom cottage on 10 acres with breathtaking views of the Atlantic......Dodd's next-door neighbor was selling for $1.2M. "Dodd continues to mislead about the property's value," charged DC-based ethics watchdog, Judicial Watch. Dodd purchased 1/3 interest for $160,000 with William Kessinger, Kansas, who was a business partner of disgraced Bear Stearns principal Edward Downe Jr, Dodd's longtime friend. Downe pleaded guilty to insider trading and securities fraud in 1993 but was pardoned, at Dodd's urging, by then-Pres Clinton in 2001. A year later, Dodd bought out Kessinger's share for a paltry $127,000. The Senate Select Committee on Ethics is investigating Dodd for sweetheart mortgage loans.

While Dodd is losing ground in Connecticut, it seems like all the Dems in Washington are trying their best to save him........ My question is why?

My guess is Dodd is crucial to power-hungry Dems---could be he's laundering earmarks/stimulus offshore into campaign accounts, via Ireland---the nearest debarking point from the US.

Betcha when he flys-in, he's got several (cough) "heavy suitcases"---AND by-passes customs.

A complaint filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics led the Senate Ethics Committee to begin looking at mortgages Sens. Dodd and Kent Conrad, D-N.D., received from Countrywide Financial Corp via a "VIP" program for "friends of Angelo (Mozilo)," Countrywide's then-chief exec. The SEC filed a lawsuit accusing Mozilo of civil fraud and illegal insider trading.

HOW DODD'S DEAL MIGHT HAVE GONE DOWN For nearly a year and a half, Countrywide failed (or declined) to secure its interest in Dodd's home NETeller is an Isle of Man-based payment processor for gambling Web sites (suspected of having operations in the US Virgin Islands---a notorious money-laundering bank haven).

Have the Feds looked into whether Dodd's sweetheart deals were reported as income? Could also involve mutiple conspiracies including theft of public property and official records
