New Honduran Government Seeks to Prove Legitimacy
Honduras This Week ^ | 6/30/2009 | Oliver J. Dimsdale, Pratheepa Kandaswamy

In Tegucigalpa, the morning of Monday, June 29 was calm. Shops and businesses were opening as usual, giving little sign of the political upheaval of the previous day.

In the early hours of June 28, members of the Honduran military stormed the Presidential House. President Jose Zelaya was evicted from the premises at gunpoint and flown out of the country. As the population began to wake up, many areas were without electricity. The supply was reportedly switched off to prevent Zelaya´s supporters from broadcasting propaganda. Nationwide bus services were canceled for June 28, in an attempt to stop radicals from taking advantage of the power vacuum.

The key issue in this debate is the manner in which Zelaya was removed from power. His enforced exile, at gunpoint, and the restrictions placed upon broadcast media in the wake of his removal have left some questioning the validity of the new government.

They question it but come up with exactly Zer0 answers as to what was incorrectly or illegally done.

The pro-Zelaya/Chavista/0bamanista/communista side has got nada.

Here is something to give a sense of their mood.

Our mood is fine but we not want Zelaya back, at least, most people. Some very poor got paid check for $4000 from Chavez emissary to vote in referendum, all check were stopped payment and they mad and protest and blame everyone. Some not from here, are from other contrie. AP miss this, but at University in Tegucigalpa, they have paper heads of Obama, Chavez, Castro and they burn them but only La Prensa took picture. Everyone at work, this like couple of car accident. We always have homeless but they get money from press to make scene to take video, we can sit at mall cafe and see cameras set up then come people and direct them, they make scene, all over in hour. Honduras want to be USA of Central America, Ticos too relaxed to do business, Panama have no good land, Nicaragua very poor, people in El Salvador always angry from wars they have people problem, Guatemala is very nice and hoep they join us. Always someone protest something. We see that bullfrog give Obama lecture. Does Obama know how many ex-Venezuelan and Brasilian and Tico hate Chavez? He want to be hated too, keep making bad friends.

President Obama is inexperienced as a statesman, and aligned with Chavez's ideology. Worse, many suspect his people may try, like Chavez did, and like Zelaya tried, to repeal our Constitution's 22nd amendment, so he can be president for life. Bad/incompetent leaders are more interested in enhancing their own power grip, in the ability to slap down any dissent (even violently) because they cannot win a rational debate. And these are the same people who speak of "diplomacy" and "peace"!

Americans are therefore very interested in the situation in your country because it is an example of courage, standing up for freedom in the face of tyranny, and standing against the entire world! In that sense, you have already become the USA of Central America. I pray God protects Hondurans, and that there may be a peaceful resolution free of Chavez's meddling.

Maybe Canada need be discovered as US best friend after all. I think we do US, Canada & Honduras - we have oil, manufacturing, clothes, fruit, coffee, all we need in 3 country. Canada oil, US make stuff, Honduras make stuff and grow all food Canada and US not grow. Who else we need? Nobody. I find this on Canada Free Press

A Honduran official has warned that deposed President Mel Zelaya was in league with Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez to ship drugs to the U.S.

Foreign Minister Enrique Ortez dropped a bombshell last week when he said Zelaya, the president who was thrown out by a constitutional process June 28 after defying the law, had a little side business with the Caracas caudillo allowing cocaine to roll into Honduras from Venezuela before heading to the U.S.

“Every night, three or four Venezuelan-registered planes land without the permission of appropriate authorities and bring thousands of pounds . . . and packages of money that are the fruit of drug trafficking,” Ortez told CNN En Espanol. “We have proof of all of this. Neighboring governments have it. The DEA has it.”

If Ortiz is right, the U.S. effort to restore Zelaya to power would be suicidal for U.S. efforts to destroy drug organizations south of our border. It would undercut Mexico’s and Colombia’s savage drug wars and give drug lords such as the Sinaloa cartel’s Shorty Guzman, who has bases in Honduras, reason to strengthen operations.

Then I suspect Ortiz is right since one group of Obama backers, the Soros family, are determined to free up the drug trade in whatever way will most benefit terrorists.
