President Obama has tapped a prominent conservative legal scholar to serve as ambassador to scenic Malta while handing a big donor the opportunity to represent the United States in the Netherlands.
Obama will nominate Douglas Kmiec, a Pepperdine University law professor and former head of the Office of Legal Counsel under President Reagan, to be ambassador to Malta, a small island nation in the Mediterranean just south of Italy.
Kmiec caused a stir during the 2008 presidential election when he publicly backed Obama, citing healthcare costs and the Iraq war as his motivation.
A committed Catholic, Kmiec was later denied communion last year during a Mass of Catholic business leaders for his endorsement.
Meanwhile, Obama turned to a longtime backer for another ambassadorship, bringing to 15 the number of prominent financiers who will head to American embassies overseas.
Obama will name Fay Hartog Levin, a senior consultant at the Chicago-based Res Publica Group, to be ambassador to the Netherlands. Hartog Levin, a former top executive at Chicago's Field Museum, was on Obama's Illinois finance committee.
On Thursday, the president also named three longtime career foreign service officers to ambassadorships that generally have been filled by professional diplomats, unlike Malta and the Netherlands.
Jonathan Addleton, who has headed USAID missions in Pakistan, Cambodia and Mongolia, will head back to the steppes of Eastern Asia to become ambassador to Mongolia.
Ambassador Gayleatha Beatrice Brown, currently serving in Benin, will move to nearby Burkina Faso. And Earl Irving, a Foggy Bottom employee since 1983, will be America's representative in Swaziland, a small African kingdom locked between South Africa and Mozambique.
Even though Kmiec wrote this:
he continued to drink the Kool Aid by the gallon before the election, and gets all bound up in the semantics and obscure minutiae of Roe v Wade, refusing to prioritize the fundamental sanctity of life issue by itself.
He could bend himself into contortions and claim some political naivety last year, but at this point, with it being abundantly clear that 0bama's agenda is to expand abortion globally and continue to be silent about the horrors of partial birth abortion, accepting this payoff now is truly repulsive and beyond hypocritical for a so-called Catholic.
I didn't know he was denied Holy Communion. It's gratifying to learn that he endured some measure of public shame for his slimey academic wizardry, though you'll see him rationalize even that in the article linked below.
A sellout of the lowest order.
His disingenuous and tortured logic can be heard in this pre-election debate on the subject.
It appears he's as arrogant and bullheaded as Obama.

The Day I Was Denied Communion for Endorsing Obama, by Douglas Kmiec
Excerpt:
Suddenly the life-long chain of liturgy was broken into pieces. The priest--the priest who had just joined with us in the prayer of the Rosary was now red-faced shouting.
I thought. Talking about me. I had cooperated with evil. I had? I had killed babies? My heart was black. I was giving scandal to the entire church. I had once been a leader but now I forfeited any semblance of respectability or leadership.
The good father grasped tightly the edges of the ambo, the unusual name given to the lectern in the Catholic Church. No faithful Catholic would ever contemplate doing what I had done. I was dead to the Holy Mother Church.
My wife held my hand tightly. We looked at each other in disbelief. Here was someone in the vestments of the priesthood who had called us to have our prayers be heard, who recited the Kyrie with us, asking the Lord's mercy upon us, now seemingly merciless, telling me and the many there assembled that I was unworthy.
I was to be publicly shunned and humiliated. My offense? Endorsing Senator Barak Obama for President of the United States.
The irony of ironies was that my motivation for the endorsement was entirely Catholic. No, Obama doesn't share the Catholic faith, but he certainly campaigns like he does.

~~Sellout ... PING!
I'll be right back, I must go vomit up rotting weasel carcasses. Kmiec blaaaaah.
~~Bump !
“Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to lose his soul for the whole world... but for Wales??”
No *true* Catholic would *ever* endorse Hussein so the highlighted portion of this quote is patently false.
Kmiec is not committed a Catholic he is a Heretic and should be dealt harshly. He is a dangerous heretic because he leads ordinary Catholics to their spiritual demise by speaking approvingly of the Evil acts and beliefs of others.
He is a liar and scumbag.
God bless the priest that dressed him down publicly. He should be run out of the Church on a rail.
I have said all along that Kmiec was angling for something from Obama. I thought it was a judgeship, but Obama would never give him that.
Now we find out what Obama was willing to give him.
“Kmiec”?
What, is this a typo, or was it taken from the bottom line on an eye chart?
“The irony of ironies was that my motivation for the endorsement was entirely Catholic. No, Obama doesn’t share the Catholic faith, but he certainly campaigns like he does.”
That statement is such nonsense! There was nothing Catholic about Obama, except for possibly is pandering statements about “loving thy neighbor”. The Bible does NOT say we should provide for the poor by stealing from someone else. Involuntary charity is NOT charity, it’s servitude. Charity is from the heart. All of these liberal Catholics clamouring about “social justice” are in favor of government sanctioned stealing, pure and simple. Their “womb to tomb” philosophy is basically, “as long as we get universal health care, we’re willing to accept abortion”. They’re willfully deceiving themselves that Obama is anything other than radically pro-abortion. They want to listen to his pandering words and willfully ignore his actions (past and present). If they want to continue calling themselves Catholics, they’re going to have to admit that at some point they’ll have to explain their logic and votes to God. As Archbishop Sheehan (Sante Fe Archdiocese) said before the election, “Remember, you’re not voting for this life, but the next.”
Malta’s a beautiful place. Hope it was worth eternity, Doug, because that’s what it cost you.
Just another example of rino ‘honor and principle’...(eye roll)
Good riddance!
Thanks for the ping.

Your friend is either one confused dude, or he has been offered some sort of plum position in an Obama Administration in exchange for his endorsement.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he is merely confused and has just been hanging around or reading too much leftist, Marxist claptrap put out by Jim Wallis (Sojourners) which he is now parroting.
Here is how he can get his head back on straight:
He needs to answer the question, "Is God a racist Marxist?"
After he honestly answers that, he will no doubt want to withdraw his endorsement, since Obama has belonged to a church for over 20 years whose leadership and affiliations are racist and Marxist to the core. What does he think "Black Liberation Theology" is all about? Is he that naive?
And it's quite easy to determine which of the two viable political parties has __a base__ comprised of racists, sexists, & Marxists.
If he doesn't think so, send him the following:
HERE:
IMHO, Doug Kmiec is EVEN WORSE than well-known dissident Catholics, because he adds a layer of pretence and hypocrisy to his deliberate betrayal of the Church and of innocent babies.
I doubt that he will be well liked in Malta, where there is still a majority of faithful Catholics.
I hope he thinks this ambassadorship is worth the cost of being thrown into the sea with that proverbial millstone around his neck for betraying God’s “little ones.”
*******************
I sincerely hope that the good Catholics of Malta treat him with all the warmth and respect he so richly deserves.
"Why, Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... ...but for Wales???"
I wouldn't be surprised if Dougie boy gets a frosty reception in Malta, whose Catholics are strongly pro-life and faithful to Church teaching.
