College Republicans Banned at Two Religious Universities

It's hard enough to be a Republican on most campuses these days. Now you can't even be a member of the Republican Club at two of America's most conservative colleges -- because the clubs have been banned.

Liberty University in Virginia, which banned its College Democratic club in May for holding positions on abortion and gay marriage that were contrary to its conservative Christian values, recently de-listed its College Republican club as well.

And in a similar move, Brigham Young University at Idaho, a school run by the Mormon Church, demoted both its Republican and Democratic clubs to informal status.

Flip sides of the same coin.
The label "Republican" seldom represents conservative Christian values anymore anyway.

That gave way to the "Big Tent" years ago.

As a Roman Catholic, I have obvious disagreements with much of what is taught at these two private universities. However I respect their right to teach what they believe.

I can only pray that some day, Notre Dame will do the same.

I think this is fair - the Republican Party is practically the same as the Democrat Party these days. I don’t see much difference. Conservatives need to face that fact.

You would be hard pressed to get anybody to run under the dumbocrap or RINO banner now unless you subscribed to the Progressive ideals.

I was right when I earlier thought that Jerry Falwell, Jr., had bowed to PC on this. He knows how liberal VA is now.

John V. Lindsay should have stayed put, as the “Big Tent” was already really embracing him in 1971.

Hi Willie, long time no see! What I am afraid of is that Notre Dame IS teaching what it believes.

Instead of that, it should have expelled the members of the CDC, both of 'em. ;')

As a Bible believing Christian who was raised Roman Catholic but later accepted Jesus Christ as my sole intercessor.

What are your “obvious disagreements with much of what is taught” at Liberty? I’m assuming your speaking about a curriculum that urges faith in Christ, His ministry and His sacrifice for our sins? What disagreement(s) would you have with that?

If you were raised a Roman Catholic as you claim, then you already know.
If you don't know, then there was no reason for your change of faith.

Good way to make themselves impotent and drop enrollment. Why are evangelists so stooooopid? Consistently, so.
