but who was it said the other day that Michael was 'number one' until Barack replaced him?
Fox has about a minute of Michael's last rehearsal video -
starts with chorus, guitar solo, then hand raised high, "number one", in background is image of thousands of riotpolice/daarthvaders, offstage narrator says..'will go down in history as the greatest demonstration of freedom in our nation' then into salute and soldier march, Michael sings "if Martin Luther was living.."(couldn't catch the rest), 'all I want to say is that they don't really care about us' which seems to be the final abrupt ending line in the song
call me crazy but the song seems like anti-zero "number one" . At the very least an inflamatory political song directed at government, which is pretty out of character for Michael, isn't it?
creeped me out
what do you think?
Welcome to the HOTEL CALIFORNIA.
TOo bad this worthless POS’s death is sucking all th eoxygen out of the media. Karl Malden, Farrah, Ed McMahon and even Billy Mays deserve more airtime than that retard.
In any case. It surprised me how lively he looks. Whatever else he was, he was a performer.
It did seem to be a political statement, and given the prevalence of Obamania, it’s more than reasonable to suppose that “... they don’t really care about us” is in reference to that.
However, this must have been part of a progression, and I think you would have to know the whole “libretto” to make a judgement.
... also, he didn’t look too bad on stage. Somewhat limited and subdued, but spry enough to evoke his former vitality. This sort of performance has been seen many times before with aging stars.
Probably a black angst song written while Bush was still in office.
You could certainly tell he couldn’t really dance like he used to, because all of the choreography was sloooow. Hell, I could have done it.
Sad.
I doubt that MJ knew that Obama was in office from one minute to the next
His body is dead (his soul is not), but his influence lives on. Here in Shanghai, we have been asked about him all week long. I tell the Chinese exactly what I believe were (and are) the evil influences on our culture from people such as Jackson.
Today in a department store, a Chinese salesman wanted to ask me about him, but he wasn’t sure he could say the name correctly, so to make sure I knew who he was talking about, he positioned himself in a Jackson pose and grabbed his crotch . . . that with three cash register girls looking on and giggling.
Well, that’s his influence.
I don’t know. To me, the song is more referring to race and his own legal issues/allegations made against him, etc. One of the lines was “Jew me, sue me, Everybody do me, Kick me, kike me
Don’t you black or white me.”
