Debby Smith, the woman who President Obama hugged during yesterday's town hall meeting and promised to help after she described her difficulties getting treatment for a tumor, "is a volunteer for Organizing for America, Obama's political operation within the Democratic National Committee" who "obtained her ticket through the White House."
One can only imagine what the press would have to say if the Bush White House had done something as cynical.
To sum up, during the session, Obama received questions from an advocate of a socialized, or single-payer health care, a representative of the liberal activist group Health Care for Americans Now, a member of the Service Employees International Union who asked what she could do to help, and one of his own volunteers.

The difference between zero and the Clintons are that the slickmeisters would get angry when the media slipped and somehow gave the “staged” meetings away. Zero laughs in your face and basically admits it, then says what are you going to do about it? The dead giveaway with the Clintons was they didn’t get angry at pre-staged interruptions.

On some show yesterday (possibly Levin’s), I believe that there was a mention as to her having served in the Marine Corps at some point. If she is so destitute that she’s unable to get health insurance, I’m fairly sure that she would qualify for some level of VA health coverage (even with no service connection to her illness).
However, Reid did clarify a few comments from a previous interview. Although ACORN International has already completed its name change over to Community Organizations International, she does not possess any personal knowledge about the re-branding of the national organization and its many components.

We pretty much know he went to Occidental . . . but where’s the actual proof that he attended any other university? Who has seen a diploma? Where are his classmates? Where’s anyone who sat in the photo of him as President of the Harvard Law Review? Surely, somewhere, there’s a YearBook with the photos of those students with their names. Someone could have found them by now.
