Feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of media attention the networks have given to Michael Jackson? You're not alone, according to a recent Pew Research Center poll, and that fact puzzles MSNBC contributor Touré.
Touré and David Wilson of TheGrid.com appeared on the July 2 broadcast of Nancy Snyderman's MSNBC's show "Dr. Nancy" to examine the premise that Michael Jackson's death was getting too much attention. Snyderman cited statics from the Pew Research Center for People & Press July 1 poll about the Jackson coverage.

Because any coverage beyond an obituary is excessive for a washed up, freakish pedophile.
Us white folk think the coverage of that pedophile is as excessive as their coverage of a Kenyan half-breed.
The Left was more critical of the funeral of Ronald Reagan.
white Americans? why, MJ was one of us!
I think that Obama is deserving of news coverage. I think he is less deserving of 100% glowing coverage, they never vetted him during the scampaign. Time to be a bit more objective in their daily reporting.
I haven’t noticed that the coverage is excessive, but then I haven’t had the TV on since MJ passed on.
Sh*t, MJ was whiter than me.
That's because yer honkey azz made him ashamed to be black....cracker.
“He just died. Let us grieve as a nation. Let his body get into the ground. Let his spirit rest. Let’s take a moment, even a couple of months, if not a couple of years, before we come back to say, OK, there are other parts of this story.’”
I’ve been hearing this from black talking heads in particular, and I don’t get it. Nobody likes Michael more than white people; that’s why he has by far America’s (majority caucasian country) all-time best selling album. Don’t see why the people speaking for the “black community” can’t share our perspective.
By the way, I seem to remember people throwing around stories of drug abuse and moral lapses when Heath Ledger, Kurt Cobain, and even “Princess” Diana died.
Toure: Isn’t that a bike race?
OK. Billy Jean, Beat it, Thriller were good. Maybe Bad was ok. Can anyone name anything else the guy did? He was way over rated in my opinion.
He was a American novelist, music journalist, cultural critic...died in 1971 if Im not mistaken.
Jackson killed himself. IMO.
I think he did the theme song to movie “Ben”.
Man in the Mirror, Black or White, Ben, The Way You Make Me Feel, just for starters.
I just thought of something...
Rush mentioned today that nobody has “covered” MJ songs.
What about Weird Al?
If he’s headlining the Staples Center Jacko/Wellstone Memorial, I’m going!
The other day my daughter came home from a summer class and told me that a couple of black girls could barely function because they were so distraught over the death of MJ. The rest of the class just laughed at them.
Glad to know all college classes are not PC cesspools.
