Lawyers for the Audubon Society filed a class action suit today in the Ninth Federal Circuit against the United States Environmental Protection Agency, 37 electrical utilities, 13 petroleum and natural gas companies as well as Alaska Governor Sara Palin.

The suit, filed on behalf of the tens of billions of trees found within the United States claims that they have undergone irreparable harm over the decades due to exposure to the pollutant, carbon dioxide. In brief, the suit states that the parties should have known of the damaging effects of carbon dioxide and their willful disregard of the overwhelming evidence constitutes gross negligence.

While damage claims were not specific in the public documents, sources close to the case suggest that they could run into the “tens of trillions” or as much as $150 per live tree with another $50-$75 per dead stump as long as it is still standing. Lawyers for the defendants were unavailable for comment.

President Barack Obama welcomed the suit saying that, "For years we have disregarded the negative effects of greenhouse gases and now, unfortunately for our taxpayers, the chickens are coming home to roost."

In our area the pine tree pollen is thicker than anyone can remember. Same with the maple tree “helicopter” seeds. Dido pine cones, etc...

There is trouble in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the Maples want more sunlight
and the Oaks ignore their pleas

“Uh...I don’t get the joke...don’t trees need co2?”

Beat me to the punch. But, we must remember that we are dealing with libs - er, progressives, here.

Science and math are things they avoid - as is evidenced by the silliness that emits from their sorry lips when they try to talk about things that are far, far above their meager capability to comprehend.

Of course they do, but need precisely 370 ppm CO2, most certainly NOT 380 ppm CO2. If God had meant for them to thrive in 380 ppm CO2, he most certainly would have established that as the equilibrium point. After all, the CO2 partial pressure is fixed for all time, immutable, and never changes. History and science have conclusively proven this.

This is simply devastating to trees who cannot comprehend what is happening to them. And if they did understand it, where would they get the U-Haul trailers to relocate themselves? Do you think that any Holiday Inn would accept them? They are victims of a tragic injustice here and somebody has to give a voice to the downtrodden trees.

My God, you’re right! We are force-feeding them, kind of like stuffing grain down the throat of a goose!

Of course, when you force-feed a goose, you get wonderful pate. Maybe we’ll get more highly figured quarter sawn bird’s-eye maple wood from trees fed more CO2. Look on the bright side.

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
‘The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light’
Now there’s no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

After a rash of tragic ski slope deaths (the Kennedy kid, Sonny Bono, etc.) years ago, a note showed up at the NY Times office which read:

“UNTIL THE CLEAR-CUTTING IS HALTED, THE KILLINGS WILL CONTINUE.”
/s/ The Trees

Damn trees. Give’ em an inch and they take a mile.

I think we need to counter-sue the trees for our exposure to the dreaded polutant oxygen.

Uh...I don’t get the joke...don’t trees need co2? ------------ don't confuse us with facts. Keep in mind that co2 is now a dangerous element that is destroying the world. /s
