A defense attorney for a University of Tennessee student accused of accessing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's Yahoo e-mail account during last year's presidential campaign wants to poll potential jurors in writing and in advance of trial.
Attorney Wade Davies on Tuesday sought U.S. Magistrate Judge Clifford Shirley's approval of the use of a juror questionnaire to ferret out candidates' prejudices in what he contends is a case mired in polarizing politics.
"This is a case that not only has received an extensive degree of local and national publicity, but it's also a case that people feel really strongly about one way or the other," Davies argued.
Davies filed a proposed 13-page questionnaire but asked Shirley to keep it secret for now. Shirley obliged.

People feel strongly one way or the other about theft and invasion of privacy? Sure. Ask each juror to give their email address and password. Those that refuse are on the jury.
