The 'Absentee' Senator
The Wall Street Journal | 07-01-09 | The Wall Street Journal Editorial Staff

Franken wins by changing the rules.

The Minnesota Supreme Court yesterday declared Democrat Al Franken the winner of last year's disputed Senate race, and Republican incumbent Norm Coleman's gracious concession at least spares the state any further legal combat. The unfortunate lesson is that you don't need to win the vote on Election Day as long as your lawyers are creative enough to have enough new or disqualified ballots counted after the fact.

...

Mr. Franken now goes to the Senate having effectively stolen an election. If the GOP hopes to avoid repeats, it should learn from Minnesota that modern elections don't end when voters cast their ballots. They only end after the lawyers count them.

One thing we learned from this past election year.

ANYONE can be a senator.

ANYONE can be president.

Qualifications, and perhaps even citizenship matter not.

I think Stalin said something like,” “it is not important who votes, but what is important is who counts votes”. The rats have stolen enough elections.

Geroge Soros should get his 'congratulations' as well. His money; his patiebce; and for all the lefties involved; just a viral amorality. . .and a 'useful idiot' predisposition.

Yes, he has. And for the next six years - longer than a Presidential term - he'll be one face of Minnesota in the Senate. If Minnesota's citizens are fine with that it's their business. If they're not, it's up to them to say so and when the time comes to toss him out with the other garbage.

The effete GOP will learn/do nothing. After the 2000 election there was a perfect opportunity to clean up our election process that was shown to be inefficient and very corruptible. The GOP were in control yet they did absolutely nothing. Consequently, every election since has been more and more corrupt. The Democrats get the advantage from the corruption but the Republicans acquiesce like the nancy boys they are.

Disgusting!

. . .that would be 'patience'. ..and a bump for the Demrat personifiction of a very nasty virus. . .

Question to voters in Minnesota: can anyone from this State explain Keith Ellison; and now. . .Alfranken (white diaper baby)? Jesse Ventura, looks like God's gift by comparison.

Can ANYone explain?

Yes, but you might not like the answer...government schools!

Yes, our young can go to war; and our Repub 'nancy boys' do what for our Country?

There are civil niceties that Repubs take for granted; behaviors that Demrats cannot dream of; but having one's face become no more than a tire track for Demrats is simply a degraded distortion of patriotism.

America is going to 'fricken hell in a hand basket'! And what do we get from our Leadership - so called. (John Boehner is trying; but seems his 'is a lonely job'.)

We need Repub voices rousing this Country to it's senses! Our Republic is and has been, under assault for years; and Republican's do not seem to 'get it'. Demrats could not wish for better; had they implanted 'brain chips' in their opposition.

It doesn’t matter what the Republicans learn from Minnesota. ACORN is in charge now.

Some 2000 years later, Minnesota finishes the job for Caligula. He threatened to put a horse in the Senate, and Minnesota actually succeeded in putting a horse’s ass in the Senate.

Well, I do not either; like 'government schools'; and despise the continued 'ratcheting up' of outrageous Liberal protocols; and realize the 'media' carries it share of blame here too; though not enough.

But unless; Minnesota is ahead 'educationally' and their 'media' a 'five-star fraud'; then this still does not entirely explain. Realize of course, that Minnesota is first and foremost; a 'state of Libs'; but still! Can they be this bad

Never mind. . .the answer is in; and painfully clear.

Of course, realize that George Soros played his hand here as well; but sad to see a 'State' give up what should be it's best; for the very worst; politics can offer.

My mom used to tell me that all the time. Up till now, I didn't realize she was being sarcastic.

Within a year,Sen-elect Franken will be forced to resign for something stupid he did while in the Senate, and the Dems will blame the right as usual.

“Within a year,Sen-elect Franken will be forced to resign for something stupid ...”

I wouldn’t be surprised at all. He is a wound-up loose screw, ready to pop. After the newness and thrill wear off of sitting in the Senate, he will find it a very boring job. He just doesn’t have the temperment for the job from anything I’ve ever seen of him.

MN is welcome to him .. but where do they FIND their office holders? It now has to be the #1 weirdest (politically) state in the union.

I predicted the Franken victory the night after the election. Here's my new prediction: Franken will be involved in some scandal and will be forced to resign. The idiots here in my state will appoint some other dip#*(% to fill out his term. Can I go on record now? Or do I have to predict how many months it's going to take him to fall?
