Spain’s National Court on Tuesday closed a probe launched by one of its judges into a July 2002 Israeli military air strike against a Hamas target in Gaza. The operation, which left Hamas leader Saleh Shehadeh killed, destroyed the building he was in leaving 14 people killed, many of them women and children. The judge, Fernando Andreu, argued that it could be considered a crime against humanity.
The decision to end the investigation came after the Spanish parliament gave preliminary legislation saying that all cases investigated by the court would have to involve Spanish citizens or a defendant on Spanish soil. This departed from the previous policy of granting the court universal jurisdiction.
I presume the Spanish National Court had time for this little case is because all crime in La Espana no longer exists.
Will they investigate the PA or Hamas or Hizbollah? I didn’t think so.
