I’ve come to believe that homosexuality is an OCD focusing on the genitals.

Just a question I’ll throw out: What should one think of a father who makes a 2 week trip by motorcycle with his 18 yo daughter from Illinois to Washington State, California, then Texas and back home, while leaving his wife and two younger sibling daughters at home?

What is the problem? The motorcycle, the travel, or the being away from home?

Are you implying that there was something inappropriate going on?

If they just forget about maximum or even minimum security for this worthless piece of crap, the “BOYZ” that will be bunking with him will show him what it feels like to be defenseless.
Probably won’t dope him up either....just screw him long enough to keep him alive for a few years.....

I suspect he may face the same fate as Jeffrey Dahmer. They have ways of dealing with this kind of pervert in prison.

Exactly. Where are they? I mean there is Worldnetdaily and a few other places like the American Thinker and some blogs but where is the coordinated conservative media? But long gone are the reasoned thinkers like William F. Buckley who was a long standing opponent of gay marriage and gay activism. Poor Savage is so steeped in his own narcissism at being put on a list by the Home Office in the UK that he spends most of his time whining like a whipped puppy and throwing what can only be described as tantrums something which I understand but are not entirely useful we will not defeat the left by throwing tantrums. Rush rules the airwaves but doesn’t dare bring up the issues that help fuel his meteoric rise not since his Oxycontin/hearing loss has he found much time to excoriate the social left except as a glancing blow not meant to really damage them. When is the last time he attacked the outrageous behavior of gay activists? I don’t expect him to lead with the story every day but at least take off the muzzle once and the while and take a bite out of the left.

Where is the right? Sometimes I think we spend more time self mutilating ourselves than understanding what the target should be. It is healthy to address one’s own faults but to lose a war because of navel gazing is crazy. Fight back hold your opponent to high standards and don’t wait for the MSM to lead you anywhere. They are becoming increasingly irrelevant even though they still have far too much control of the news cycle. Shoot even the drudge report has started peddling the same weak swill rather than leading with the news. Maybe that isn’t entirely fair but there is one truth. If we lose the culture wars which is the only area it seems that the GOP has won anything of standing then all hope for fiscal conservatism is lost. The same weak minds who equate anal penetration with liberty and get more outraged when their cable or internet is disconnected than when someone’s house gets confiscated by the government to build a shopping mall are the same weak minds that will buy Obama’s hope and dreams and skyrocketing deficits. They almost bought global warming and we are inches away politically from getting our economy nuked by global warming nuts with the CAP and Trade bill.

Things like abandoning responsibilities, as is implied but unproven

Does that refer to this item?

... while leaving his wife and two younger sibling daughters at home

I don't see that having one parent take a trip with a teenager while another stays at home with younger children is "abandoning responsibility." More like "division of labor." My husband takes our teenage boys to Boy Scout camp and to races, while I take care of the little children at home. Life is like this.

And regarding the original question, I went on trips alone with my father when I was a teenager. I have some great memories that do not include anything improper. My mother didn't want to go camping in the Big Bend for 10 days; it's not her thing. Never went on motorcycles, but how would going in a truck make any difference?

No. Not at all. What I'm saying is more than two neighbors have questioned the propriety (not me). It made me come to the conclusion that, although there's no reason to suspect anything inappropriate, such a decision to do so under such circumstances can lead to speculation, warranted or not.

Father/son/daughter (or substitute mother) trips to such places as Boy/Girl Scout camps, races or camping (which is usually around others) is no big deal IMO. Neither was this trip. My point is, as the parent, one should also look at how others may view such acts; especially in today's world.

Granted, those neighbors questioning the propriety are considerably older than the family (or myself for that matter). But does one want to place themselves in a position where such speculation is possible? That's why I put it to the forum.

...but where is the coordinated conservative media?

There isn't any conservative coordinated media. I can name every conservative "media" on my fingers and have fingers left over. I can't count the liberal media on both hands just in New York.

And besides we weren't the people pushing gay adoption. The gay press and the MSM should be covering and condemning this monster.

I want 60 Minutes to do a piece on this - and how often selling children for rape is discussed in gay chat rooms.

No one has acted shocked that this was openly discussed - and none of the "chat room" gays came forward to the police to object to a five years old being offered for rape fun. Where's those great investigative reporters... if a Christian minister had done this, they'd be out there with bells on.

Can we assume the MSM isn't covering this because they're OK with adult men using kindergarden children for rape parties? Is that who CBS is? Or ABC news? Why so quiet?

Are you nuts?

Here's how it works. If a person commits a crime - ( and yes, trying to sell a child for rape in a chat room is a crime) then we CONDEMN that monster. We don't wonder if people in chat rooms talking about cooking spaghetti should also be looked at...

Grow up bcsco.

The alternative is to limit unreasonably what parents and children can do. No, you don't "want" speculation, but you can't control what other people think, nor what they say, if they're the kind of people who are going to gossip and speculate. Being that kind of person is its own punishment.

It sounds to me like the young woman and her father had a great experience that they can both treasure the rest of their lives - perhaps a reward for her high school graduation, or earning a college scholarship?

I understand that. I asked those neighbors what they knew that gave them reason for doubt. They couldn't give me any reason. I told them they should give the benefit of the doubt instead of forming a derogatory opinion. Frankly, I doubt they agreed or appreciated being told.

My point is, as you say, we can't live our lives based on what others may think, but we should, perhaps, consider that our actions, however well meant, may be open for interpretation.

I myself have taken my kids on camping trips (as did your dad with you). However, I'm not sure I'd ever opt for a two week cross-country trip with one daughter while others are relegated to home. First, it could (and obviously did) appear unseemly to some, but more important, it ignores the rest of the family. There's other ways to give deserved time to a child than such extended exclusive attention. Why shouldn't the whole family enjoy such a marvelous trip? If anything relating to that one daughter was intended, that could be attended in the course of the vacation, with them along as well.

Then there's the fathers resultant inattention to that daughter's two siblings left at home. Those are the problems I have with the situation.
