Recent calls to privatize the U.S. Postal Service are silly, but not because the idea is unsound. First, it's hard to imagine a scenario under which your socialist Congress and socialist president would permit it to happen because to them, the only good business is a government-run or -subsidized enterprise.
Further, though privatization of all or parts of postal services in New Zealand, Germany, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands and Sweden has worked fabulously or shown great promise in improving service and productivity and reducing rates, the USPS is a union shop, and everyone knows to whom congressional Democrats and President Obama are beholden.
So they'll keep throwing good money after bad, just as they've done with the unionized auto industry, and approving ever-higher postal rates just to keep the gravy train on the tracks.
Ping to a Republican-American Editorial.
If you want on or off this list, let me know.

Oh for a way for we 'cooks' to stop making he gravy for them....Oh yeh...votem all out next time,,,
some of the Dems are trying to sell the healthcare public option by using the example of the USPS vs. FedEx.
Oh, please please PLEASE keep using THAT example to sell it!
Ditto for Amtrak...any enterprise run by the government is doomed to failure as the solution to obvious failure is always pour in more money.
Oh Yeah. Right on.
Thanks for the ping Graybeard.
