For once the loud explosions piercing the Baghdad night are the sounds of celebration rather than violence and bloodshed, as a new national holiday is announced to mark US troops leaving Iraq's towns and cities.

Tell me of another country that invades a nation, gets rid of a brutal dictator, oversees its rebuilding, and voluntarily withdraws when that nation proves its ability to look after itself.
We are so eeeeeeeevil and awful, aren’t we?
If you listen to a lot of ministers, they’d think we are the problem.
Yes, we are so evil.
We took no land, took no oil, and sacrificed over 4,000 American, and over 35,000 wounded soldiers and a trillion dollars, for another country’s freedom..

I hopw Iraq can stand on its own now.
But they will have to continue to fight the terrorists and insurgent troublemakers in their midst from now on with little or no help from us.
I hope they can do it.
At the same time they must guard their sources of revenue namelt their natural resoucres sich as oil from being destroyed.
They also must rebuild their infrastructure and keep their representative government intact and not allow it to become radicalized or sectarian once again.
The Iraqis know who is responsible for their liberation. They still talk about President "Boosh."
Combat troops have pulled back from the cities to more outlying areas. Non-combat troops, such as those participating in the training and other transition activities are still located in the city centers as appropriate to their area of focus. (As are their civilian counterparts.)
This is just the first step (milestone) in the eventual withdrawal expected to be complete in 2012.
