Why do these lawmakers feel the need to interfere in the bedroom practices of Americans?
I am not in favor of PP, contraceptives or abortion, but your information is totally incorrect.
The only contraceptives that may be less effective than the more common “combination” contraceptives which contain both progesterone and estrogen are the progestin-only (no estrogen, just progesterone) pills.
Today’s “low-dose” pills are simply the result of advancements that allow for lower levels of the synthetic hormones to do the same job as previous higher dose (read: hormone level) pills. The result is less or less severe side effects.
A “low-dose” contraceptive does not equal less effective/cheaper in the sense of half an aspirin or one vs two teaspoons of cough syrup.
For PP their contraceptive costs are likely largely covered by Medicaid, private insurance, and taxpayer dollars so your reasoning doesn’t follow.
I am only quoting former PP workers. They maintain that PP produced their own inhouse “brand” of BC pill that was not “low dose”, but rather a dose purposely below the required amount for reasonable effectiveness.
I would need further information on that. It seems unlikely that a pharmaceutical would manufacture a specific brand (and it would have to be specific brand because all meds are initially branded and trademarked) to provide to PP at reduced cost and effectiveness as it would be grounds for huge lawsuits and lawyers would smell that from miles around.
No pill is 100% effective, there really would be no need for them to adulterate the pills. Just encourage people to have sex more often beginning at a younger age. Abortion is just a side show beside the main act of less family and more State.
